OFFICIAL '08-'09 BUFFALO SABRES SEASON THREAD

just dont forget that boston is resting some guys…but yea they look good and did against carolina the other night too… ah well

This team was so underwhelming its disgusting.

They are overrated and underachievers.

Im glad they can beat the teams in the playoffs but cant beat the Islanders/Thrashers/Lightning.

They play to the level of their competition which is poor coaching and poor leadership.

If they would have played the way they were capable they would have easily been atop the division.

Boston has the number 1 spot locked no problem… why would they try at all!

one of the most boring games i’ve been to.

sure, it was cool watching them score, but you could tell the bruins did not give a fuck.

meh, not the least of the Sabs problems

He’s been stuck with some underachieving players that don’t win championships for him or any other coach. The argument that other teams fire coaches to me is silly. Who cares what other teams do. If he gets some better players that can play in the clutch and he fails with them, I’ll be the first one there to say fire him.

Thats your problem.

Is it a coincidence we won the presidents trophy the only season as of late with 3 great players (Drury, Capbell , Briere, maybe Miller) .

Give the guy something to work with and he’ll do wonders.

Looking forward to 9th or 10th place next year.

This is why we can’t have nice things. The city is still willing to support mediocrity with a ticket price hike and the same shitty team. Why should they have any incentive to improve? If we really wanted a winner we’d only pay for quality.

I see where you are coming from, but would you rather the team look bad financially? Because that would be the other option.

I’d rather there be more elasticity in the amount of money they make. So it’s like, good season, they absolutely kill it in profits and beat all expectations. Bad season, they lose money. The front office and coaching staff really have nothing to lose by putting out a shitty product, as long as they only miss 8th place by a few points they know the administration won’t have the balls to fire them.

I’m buying a Sabres jersey… what player would be good to get. As in I don’t want to buy a Jersey this year and he gets traded next season. I know this is a little unpredictable but I don’t know who’s contract is up when and what the chances are of different players leaving is. So… that said… the only two I don’t really want are Miller (to cliche IMO) or Roy (for some reason just never wanted a Roy jersey). So that said… the three that I’m really debating between are Pominville, Vanek, and Connolly pretty much in that order.

Vanek only has what 7 more years in Buffalo…lol. Get a blank third jersey, they are doing away with the slug jersey next year so don’t waste your money on that. Pominville is a pussy, so I’d avoid him. Start watching the sabres games and find out which player you think performs the best. If you think Miller is your favorite player than get a miller jersey, whether everyone is getting a Miller jersey or not. I’m probably going to go with just a blank jersey for my next one.

Aren’t they changing the 3rd jersey’s next year too?

Possibly, but the main logo will be the old school logo AFAIK

Wrong season thread. Although it is interesting to see the predictions. :stuck_out_tongue:

edit - although, a quick search does not net me the '09-'10 thread. Where is it?

the 09-10 thread was not brought over yet after the server change. not sure if josh was working on it or not…but if they want to change the title of this thread to 09-10…that would be fine

Oh. :meh:

Well, as most of us know, Sabres can clinch the NE division tonight with a win over the lowly Rangers.
