OFFICIAL '08-'09 BUFFALO SABRES SEASON THREAD

THE FAMOUS BACKHANDDDDDDDDDDDDD

i love kotalik…

YESSSSSSSS

woo stole that game

nice… roy lost the puck too lol. oh well 2 points for us

wooooo!!! Roy!!

umm the last 4 minutes of the 2nd period, what game were you watching?

can’t say for sure but it looked to me like that was intentional

Vokoun looking up at the rafters after Kotalik’s SO Goal seems as if he practically anticipated the move and still let it by him.

yeah kotalik really sold the shot on that one

true, who knows, im not in his mind >.> haha

the first time someone tried a move like that on me I was so pissed. I had just got to skate & shoot at buff state. it was a 4 hr skate so I showed up 30 min into it. They only had 1 goalie and had already started playing. First shot I took was a breakaway; kid tried to do that move where he sets the puck 5 hole, but then he tried to chop my stick out of my hand. I had just broken a stick the previous day and that was the last one I had left. I tried to fight the kid but he pussied out saying he “didn’t mean it.” then he and his buddies would go “ooooooh” whenever they scored (skate and shoot, so many 3-1 and 3-0’s). I wanted to kill the kid, and had enough of my friends there to hold off his friends, but he was a bitch. recounting this bums me out, I just bought 2 sticks online (haven’t had to pay for sticks since high school).

Almost every goalie knows what kotalik is going to do in a shootout, either gun it forhand or pull his signature back hand move, its just a matter of execution and how he always puts the puck exactly how high and exactly where he wants it. And it continues to work time after time because of the execution. Good game last night

and Booth is sick.

Dear Florida Panthers,

We here at the Buffalo Sabres have this really amazing player, Maxim Afinogenov, whom we would like to trade for Mr Booth. If that is not enough we also have a nearby bridge…

OUCH

South Buffalo native Tim Kennedy is recovering from oral surgery after a vicious high stick taken in a game Saturday against Manchester that knocked out eight teeth. Manchester’s Gabe Gauthier got a double minor on the play.

Natkhan Gerbe missed Monday’s matinee game with the flu and the Pirates played with just 16 skaters in the contest.

After opening the season with a blazing-hot 12-1-1 start, the Pirates have slipped to fourth in the AHL’s Atlantic Division at 22-17-3.

In addition, Mike Card and Mike Funk are both battling concussions and Funk just returned from a stint recovering at home in British Columbia.

Marc-Andre Gragnani, who split time at Rochester last year between forward and defense, is now a regular on the backline this season and even was a last-minute scratch for Monday’s matinee with Hartford because of the flu.

“It’s an area that we’ve talked about internally,” Ruff said. “We know where we’re at here and we know what’s down below. When you get healthy, you have a few too many and it’s tough to keep everybody happy. Then a couple guys go down and you thank God we have the number we have.

jesus.

also heard earlier that Rivet took a stick in the face today at practice, and was taken off while bleeding. We’ll see what his status is tonight i suppose.

great

see belowwww

Jason Pominville caught Craig Rivet above the left eye with his stick causing the Sabres captain to leave the morning skate. He did get patched up and returned before practice was over.

No changes in the line-up for Buffalo with Ryan Miller in goal. Miller is 7-and-1 this month with a 1.94 goals against and a .932 save percentage. Miller and Pominville will both join Schopp and the Bulldog for tonight’s pregame beginning at 6:30.

As I told you yesterday, plane problems didn’t get the players into their rooms until 4:15 Tuesday morning. Lindy Ruff gave them the day off the ice, but took them to play paint ball. Everybody I asked said they had a great time and it was an important bonding experience for them. Ruff takes the team on a field trip at least once every season.

Tampa Bay has played much better lately. The Bolts are 8-5-1 lately and have won four of six. It’s impressive considering defeseman Paul Ranger, Marek Malik, Matt Samby and Jamie Heward are all out. Marty St.Louis is the NHL’s leading since December 27th scoring five goals and 14 assists. Vincent Lecavalier has 17 points in that same time frame.

.

well, that’s good to hear he’s good to go.
