well that sucks, should I bring up my argument for nhl players wearing a cage like in the ncaa?
Don’t bother. It’s part of hockey.
It was a fluke play. Normally the puck isn’t head level when your standing 5 feet from the player shooting. If that puck didn’t hit Vanek, it was heading for the crowd anyway. Volchenkov was trying to put it on net but it rolled on him as he shot it.
a fluke just like Teppo’s broken jaw a month ago?
We have a few more weapons in the arsenal, I much more concerned with keeping our blue line healthy right now.
if anything ncaa rules should be changed to allow half-shields. Kids play juniors for years wearing half shields then have to start wearing a cage again for 1-5 years. then when they advance they go right back to wearing a halfer again
if you like hockey but don’t want the injuries there’s a sport you can get into:
curling
and this is from someone who’s had a nice high-stick to the face

NHLPA has been discussing making rookies wear halfers, and eventually everyone wearing at least a halfer. I’m fine with that (though they’re against it because they don’t want more regulation).
don’t want injuries? don’t play sports. don’t want to see them? don’t watch.
should be totally optional, if you get hurt you get hurt, its your choice.
^ totally agree with u.
I’m just saying GM’s are making multi-million dollar investments in these players, and it’s in their interest to protect them from something so preventable.
Teppo was 25 feet from the shooter. I was just saying Vanek’s injury was a fluke just because of how close he was to the shooter. When your that close, the puck shouldn’t get anywhere near your face unless your laying on the ice!
Either way that’s 2 broken jaws for our team in the last month that could have been prevented
it sucks that’s the case, but that doesn’t change the way i feel about cages.
what about ankle and wrist injuries? groins, hamstrings, acl’s, etc.
do you propose we just wrap everyone in bubble wrap?
shit happens man, that’s all there is to it.
^^ I knew someone would go there, obviously some injuries just happen with a contact sport but like I said this is completely preventable without any major changes. I realize you guys are firm in your beliefs, so I’m not going to push it anymore, but it seems like an easy fix to me.
its the players choice to wear a visor full/half, cage, no cage. they get hit its thier own fault, they are old enough now to choose to what they want to do
my two cents
if u wanna hear a fluke, i took a kids CAGE to my face just near my lip, and i have a half visor, and its just i shoulda kept my head down not up in this situation lol.
yah when I got my face cut up ^ I had to wear a cage for 2 weeks (if the stitches ripped open it would have been a nasty scar). I got my bell rung pretty good in a game, had I not worn a cage it would have been fine.
There are no rules against wearing cages. If someone wants to wear a cage, they are more than welcome. Oddly enough, noone wears one…
yup, and what sucks to for me he went through my lip a little two, lol, and the cage wearing, no one wears them because they fuck with your visibility, and the full face visor suck, they fog like crazy.
Ribero for Dallas, but he has had like 6 broken noses…
Gerbe playing tonight
hopefully he doesn’t get jumped like last night
jesus christ last night was nuts. such a short bench after everyone got thrown out in those 2 major scuffles. madness
stupid mike ryan
