That was sweet…he did that a few time in this series. Did anyone see when after the whistle Ovi flipped the puck up while skating past Fleury and was tapping the puck on his blade and Fleury whacked the puck out of the air….funny stuff there.
I will say after watching this series it made me realize it is true about Ovi not having a complete game. For the most part he never forechecks or backchecks…I mean if it is an important part of the game he will but 90% of the time he doesn’t, his board play is nothing special, always cherry picks, defense skills are limited…pretty much he is an amazing shooter and skater and nothing else really stands out. Everyone is always amazed how much energy he has…hell if you watch him he is coasting around either looking for a breakout pass or a nice dirty hit to lay on someone…he can catch a breather while the rest of his team is working. Not saying he isn’t great, but his overall game isn’t too impressive aside from skating and shooting…yes you can say he lays dudes out, but how many of those hits are legal?
fuck Ovechkin…hes such a fag anymore (not sayin hes not good, but still)
i think as for Boston or Car…to me Carolina is more consistant (especially at goaltending) and Staal is gonna be a beast no matter what. with Boston, i think they have potential to be more dangerous with their depth of hi-scoring forwards and sometimes dominant goalie (thomas) but they arent as consistant all-around IMO. but either way, if we play our game, i think we go to the cup.
Only thing I don’t like about the Canes is Cam Ward, he is an absolute beast. Lets hope by the time we are done with the Canes we chase him out of the net too!
i cant see how a goalie could be more dominant than Varlomov was (even tho luck seemed to play a part, at times) so no matter how good Ward plays, it cant be any better than what we just faced IMO. we win in 5-6 games.
Good first game. The Canes did a decent job on shutting down Crosby…even though he almost had two great assists. I was impressed with Fleury, he look every bit as good as ward if not better. I am not sure what to think of Cooke’s hit…he said he kept his course and when Cole tried to move that cause the knee on knee. I have to see another replay I guess. Either way it is not good for hockey, sucks that it happened.
I am really surprised by Satan’s play during round 2 and the first game against the Canes. I was so happy when we sent him to Wilkes Barre because he had been an embarrassment this year. When they announced that he was going to dress for round two I expected more of the same, but he has played really well. Hopefully that play can continue through this round and the next.
