Briere is a whiny little bitch
And did anyone see him tap miller on the head after goal # 3(?) while celebrating? I can’t imagine he said anything nice. I think it was a distasteful move. I don’t really hate him, but I definitely don’t LIKE him.

Because he’s a diver, and kind of a dirty player. Should have been AT LEAST a 5min for the Neidermayer hit. He’s a skilled player but a big fggt when it comes to respect for the other players and rules.
This still does not clear anything up for me.
Did he used to play for the sabres? Is he from here? I’ve gathered that he plays for philly.
I just know that I’ve read 8000 FB status updates about how much people HATE this guy. IDK how you can hate anyone from another sports team, but whatever…
EDIT
ok this helped a little
Yeah I noticed that too…and the whole series instead of going in front of miller he’s skate between miller and the net…ASSSSS HOOOOOLLLEE , ASSSSS HOOOOOLLLEE
thank god the season is over. so sick of hearing about it. lol
he played for the sabres back in 06/07 (I think, I’m bad with recalling years) when they made that run at the Cup and lost to the Hurricanes in the Conference Finals.
(at least I think that all occurred in the same year, I have a foggy memory with this type of stuff)
He left because the Sabres were too cheap to pay him what he deserved to make. Sabres fans felt that he was being greedy.
Used to play for the Sabres. The Sabres management failed to sign him while they could and he has since played for Philly. He had the same attitude and skill he does now…
I agree. What bothered me most wasn’t so much hearing about it, but the gravity of which people seemed to be so strongly attached to something, then how quickly they became detached from it.
I LOVE THE SABRES
turned into
THE SABRES FUCKING SUCK
so easily.
It kind of depressed me on a deep level of human social behavior.

Lol. The people who thought he was being being greedy are the same people who would rat out their co-worker of 15 years for a 50 cent raise.
WTF. The guy’s JOB is playing hockey. If I’m a fucking awesome engineer and not getting paid what I should, fuck yeah I’d go find a new job.
Yeah, exactly
Sabres didn’t fail to sign him. His agent said, “Sabres are going to lowball you early to try and get you to stay at a bargain, don’t do it. You can get a better deal elsewhere.”.
People in Buffalo are passionate about sports. No matter what, they will have their heads up and ready to go next fall when the season starts again. There is nothing wrong with being passionate and emotional about sports. It’s really tough to continue to hold a positive attitude when a team blows their opportunity that they worked so hard to get at. Beyond that, when you sit there and watch, there is just NOTHING that you personally can do to change it, so it’s really difficult to swallow.
I don’t find it that hard at all, actually. The only thing that’s slightly upsetting about the Sabres losing is that it means the end of packed bars for the games and people having a good time because of it.
The people who turn on the Sabres usually start watching when they are in the playoffs. Real fans ride it out despite feeling like shit when they lose.
I agree that players now a days are very greedy. Back in the 60s & 70s Hockey was 1 of 2 jobs players usually had. Pay was <10,000.
my whole take an the briere hate is that its more of a “wow…look at what we had and an owner just let them go”, I dont hate him because he always find the right spot to be in (not his fault our defense cant keep tabs on him) and thats what makes him a good player. But am I going to hope someone catches him with a good legal hit…?
of course
Last year, the Flyers were having some serious buyers remorse with regards to Briere. And if you look at his salary compared to his production, he is being greatly overpaid. I’m okay with the fact that he was allowed to walk. He’s a good player, but he’s not worth his contract total and the restraints it places on the cap for years to come.
I would take his cap hit in a heart beat, he is a player that can get you a goal when you need it and that is something i dont think we have anymore
In a cap restricted world, players like Drury, Campbell and Briere are burdens. If we had Briere signed, we certainly wouldn’t be able to sign Ennis, Myers, Gerbe etc. etc. when the time comes.
The problem is we had the opportunity to sign both Drury and Briere for significantly less than they left for. Briere the year before, and Drury during the season to an agreed upon amount that the Sabres just never sent the paperwork over to be signed.
Meh, what ever. Hoping for better management with a new owner. But I definitely don’t hold anything against Briere for bailing during Golisano’s halfhearted ownership.
I’m wearing my Sabres cap with pride. Great series, minus that last game (and the two 3-goal blown leads :meh: ) The ride to the playoffs was the most memorable part. Keep in mind this team around New Years looked to be anything but a playoff contender.
Looking forward to what should be the next rung-up on a steady rise for this franchise.
RIP '10-'11 season. :-({|=
No way. 90% of the philly serious was played in the sabres zone. Every time they took a shot, you had 1 or 2 philly guys hounding miller for a rebound. Every time sabres shot against philly, there was no one around to snag a rebound.
Hey Sabres put up a fight to make the playoffs and against series Philly. I was mad we couldn’t wrap this up on Sunday, it was their game. But whatever, I still support them hoping Management makes some big moves. There is progress and this series was exciting, unlike last year against Boston.
I don’t hate Briere, he can be a bitch but the man can play Hockey. Even though back in '03, Phoenix sent him packing to the Sabres and after the lockout gave him a chance to shine. I believe we could of won the Stanley cup with that team. If it wasn’t for injuries, Sabres would of won the Cup in 2006.
Ruff signed to a multi-year extension.
