Let’s kill everyone, it’s not like they can suspend us for next season, lol.
Lets just say /thread for 2010 - 2011 season
Wtf? Gerbe got ejected?!?!?
Should be real interesting to see what happens in the off season.
Well, excellent time to play our worst. After the game didn’t feel nearly as bad as I thought it would…
A lot of positives to take away from this year. We have a lot of good young players, Gragnani is living up to what we hoped he would be, Enroth has exceeded expectations, Ennis had a great year, Gerbe finished the year very strong, and Myers turned his game around and played great.
Looking forward to seeing what happens over the summer as far as free agency is concerned. Our future looks bright.
I totally agree, I was disappointed but far from upset.
after the first period of game 6 they just didnt play the same. I just boggles my mind how a team can go into a game 7 and look like they did
I think it was less about how the Sabres played and more that Philly finally looked like a #2 seed. The way they dropped down into a 4 man box every time we’d take a shot and block 90% of them was unreal. That, and I’ve seen very few teams that can chase players when they retreat to the “safety” behind their own net and come up with the puck so often on the forecheck. The Sabres stayed in this series by getting some lucky goals on questionable goal tenders and some superb goaltending at times by Miller. Other than a few minutes here and there where the Sabres would get a strong offense going Philly controlled play for the majority of this series.
I still don’t think they go deep in the playoffs due to goaltending.
Philly will most likely play BOS, which I think they’ll have a hard time with. Even though Boston really has no firepower in the offense. Hopefully Briere gets his back snapped in half.
Hahaha. Amen to that. God I can’t stand Briere.
Soft, heartless hockey is what we saw last night. Don’t know how a team can walk into a game 7 with everything on the line, and play with such little emotion, such little passion, and such little energy.

It was one of the worst games this season and Buffalo chose to play it last night. It was like when we played Ottawa a few years back…the whole season we were good, and even the playoffs. Then we hit Ottawa and the team took a nap. It was a kick right in the nuts last night, but It wasn’t as bad as I thought. I honestly don’t think Philly was that much better than us. A little more experienced and offensive, but the games were very even.
JayS is definitely right about the blocked shots. We had plenty of chances to get pucks on the net, but they never made it there and it results in a turnover when it’s blocked. Our forwards were just bullied out by the defense. You can’t be sucessful with THAT much traffic in the slot. One or two bodies and you can sneak pucks in and get deflections. Once it becomes 3,4,5 guys it’s just too much.
We were pathetic on the forecheck. If you’re going to play dump and chase hockey, you’d better be up to the task and skate your fucking heart out for the puck. You can’t just coast in and softly play the puck. You skate, make a hit and take the puck away. Every time I see someone on the forecheck STOP moving their feet and begin to coast, I die a little inside.
How are you even alive to post this right now?!?!
LOL

Serious question: Why does everyone hate Briere so much?
Philly did a great job at realizing their goaltending was shit and playing “if the shot doesn’t reach the goalie, he can’t let it go in”. We scored 2 goals. One of them 2 defenders chased Ennis, which opened up a lane and the other a defender fell, which opened up a lane. Almost every other shot they were in position to keep pucks away from Bobby Boucher.
EDIT for Newman: I don’t hate Briere. I hate that we had an owner who was more interested in PAC donations than spending money on his hockey team to keep a guy like Briere.
Ok, well why do other people hate Briere?
Briere as a player is VERY good. Come pressure-time in the playoffs, he turns into a reliable, dangerous presence.
However, it left a sour taste in my mouth the way he played the victim in leaving, as if it was not his fault at all.
