So the powerplay still sucks, we still don’t have a back up goalie that can do anything and our core players fucking suck and couldn’t score to save their lives. We’re only a month into the season and I am already sick of watching this team play, for the love of god I hope the assholes in charge don’t resign regier and ruff next year.
Our play in front of our goalies doesn’t help their reuptation. Enroth was pretty bad last night, but there is no fucking reason for a team to allow 2 shorthanded goals. I don’t think Lalime has played that bad this season, he’s still not great but his teammates do absolutely nothing to help him. I actually hope Ruff gave Miller time off and called it an injury. Have him comeback when the rest of the team decides to play.
Time after time we’ll get a 2 or 3 on 1 and we pass it around until we run out of ice. SHOOT THE FUCKING PUCK. They also need to quit deciding to start playing the the last 10 minutes. They also do all these cutesy no look passes and behind the back passes. WTF is that shit? You should be able to see the player your passing to knock it the fuck off.
A couple times this season (only a couple), they’ve come out very strong in the 1st period. Forechecking was spot on, Defense was working well, shots all over. I think, If we play like this the whole time, the other team has no chance. Then comes the second period and every one falls asleep and starts hooking and slashing and tripping.
I think Ruff should make them practice everyday, you have to earn your days off with a win. IF you don’t come to practice, you don’t play.

that was stated by bucky gleason, buffalo new sports writer, during a live post-game interview with lindy.
GLEASON: Reports say that Darcy is shopping for players. Others say he is shopping for a coach. Which do you think it is?
LINDY: Who do you want it to be?
GLEASON: Its not up to me. What is your opinion?
LINDY: Its not up to me either. Who do you want it to be?
That was the post game between Ruff and Gleason. Bucky asked Ruff if he thought the Sabres needed a player change, a coach change or what. Ruff replied “Which would you like”. Bucky replied “My opinion doesn’t matter”, Lindy replied “niether does mine”. Bucky then stated “It matters to me” and Ruff replied “Well it doesn’t matter to me”.
Those are rough quotes from what I remember. I don’t recall Darcy’s name being involved in that exchange. Lindy obviously isn’t going to say “Fire me” and he’s not going to call out players.
They just need a coach who will punch players in the face and yell at them…

hopefully lindy will be gone very soon, everyone i talk to continues to say that they dont think its a coaching problem and i just shake my head cause i know there is no point in arguing

I still don’t think Lindy is totally to blame. These players know what they need to do.

sloppy sloppy sloppy tonight… should have ended 2-1, and we certainly got lucky in OT, very lucky. That was a nice shot though for the win
I didn’t think they looked sloppy at all. There were a few bad neutral zone passes that looked like pee-wee moves, but other than that they played really well. They almost always had 2 defensemen backing up and 2 more backcheckers nipping at the heels on an offensive rush by the caps. They kept them to the outside and really didn’t give up much.
I can’t stop watching Myers’ goal on NHL.com. To pull that shot off so quickly and immediately after settling a loose puck, ridiculous!
The problem isn’t Lindy. He’s worked with what he has recieved. Shit in, shit out. The Sabres are in dire need of a 80-90 point guy (guaranteed) and a playmaker/powerplay quarterback type. While I agree that Lindy seems like push-over and is probably less effective than your Tortarella types…he’s easily in the top 20% as far as quality around the league. He needs to hold these guys accountable. Sit them if they were out drinking all night, if they are 10 minutes late to a meeting. Start using the juice behind your job title to scare the shit out of these guys.
The real problem is the out of state owner who couldn’t care less about winning and looks towards profitability. It’s why they come out with a new jersey every year. It’s beyond rediculous. Get a real “hockey” type of GM and real “hockey” type of owner and you’ll win a cup or two. Don’t believe me? Who are the 8 teams that went to the cup finals in the past 4 years? Every team has had atleast 2-3 players who are ELITE in their position.

What do all teams have in common? SUB PAR GOALTENDING. Marc Andre Fluery? Anti Niemi? Osgood? Howard? Boucher? Emery? - All mediocre at best, but rose to the occasion (with the exception of Howard…he was pretty damn good)
Darcy’s system of building from the goal crease out, doesn’t work anymore. Teams with phenomenal goaltenders are dying in the post season, if they even make the playoffs at all. When’s the last time Broduer, Bryzgalov, Kiprusoff, Lundquist even had a shot at a cup? Not since I can remember?
Don’t blame Lindy. Blame our out of touch GM, blame our owner for not even being close to the salary cap, blame our city for not being a place where superstars want to go because we have only paid one player over $7,000,000/season and our hand was forced on that one. Buffalo is one of the best hockey towns in North America. It’s too bad it’s look down as a dump by outsiders. Its the same reason Edmonton can’t keep anyone. Blame our disillusioned fan base for continuing to show up to games and buy jerseys. However, don’t blame Lindy.
