**Official 2008 Buffalo Bills thread**

ok can somebody please tell me… how can NY challenge after a play saying that the bills had to many men… the ref missed it to bad… then the ref says we did have to many men and gives us a penalty I thought u were not allowed to challenge penalties? in that case challenge holdings Christ… but can somebody please inform me what the rule is on this

not that I could do much better but…

does anyone else feel like Lynch is MAD overrated?

I mean whats his average now this season, like what 3.3 a carry or some shit

I mean he does go into “beast mode” and he looks decent but come on …

Why would they not be allowed to challenge that? I can’t remember exactly what happened in that play, or when they challenged it. So if you could go through that first I might be able to answer your question.

Certainly not. His numbers prove his skill. Jet’s have the #3 Rush defense in the league, so coaching staff decided not to give the ball to him as much as they normally do. He only had 9 carries IIRC, and they shut him down fairly well. Not his fault really, just a good D from the Jets.

Also, keep in mind he was playing sick and had to keep coming off the field because of it. This game should not reflect that poorly on his normal abilities. IMO.

if I remember correctly… The jets were stopped for like no gain then mangini threw the challenge flag to challenge that we had too many guys on the field… In my opinion if the ref missed it to bad or ya go ahead and challenge and if your right re-do the play but I don’t think its right that you can give a penalty for it if the ref missed it the 1st time… oh and ya that kick was in bounds we got boned bad on that one

Well in that case, I don’t understand why you think they should not have been able to challenge it. The referees cannot see EVERYTHING and throwing a red flag simply allows the opportunity to have a fair call that a ref may have missed. Just like in any other situation.

From what you are saying, I could go kill someone, and since a cop didn’t see me, I didn’t do anything wrong.

my point is that if you can do that… then why cant teams go and challenge a holding call or a pass interference call etc. that the ref “didnt see” idk it just seems sketchy… they should just get rid of allowing teams to challence anything except important things like ball spots, catches and fumbles

Ah, I see what your saying.

Now that I think about it, it is one of those weird fucking rules that you find hidden in the massive amount of rules in the NFL.

I guess it’s just the way it is. It might actually be the only penalty teams are allowed to challenge. So I do agree with you. It’s fucked up, but what can you do right? We’re all playing by the same rules…

almost as gay as standing outta bounds and downing a inbound kickoff and then getting it at the 40yard line.:frowning:

As much as that sucked for us, fucking  to him for keeping his head in the game and knowing to do that. I was impressed when I realized what happened. (I was at the game, and had no fucking clue why they took it at the 40-Yard line. It wasn’t until I got back and saw it explained on ESPN that I knew.)

Yeah, smart play by them, personally i think it’s a horrible rule. If the ball is sitting on the ground, in bounds I don’t see how that makes any sense. But nice job knowing the rules, he earned them about 30 yards.

the rule wasn’t really put into place for THAT type of situation, he used his head and found a loop hole. the reasoning behind it was if the ball is coming down and your running under it to make the catch and in doing so catch the ball while your foot is out of bounds, its a kick out of bounds. props to him though for realizing the situation and taking advantage of it though

i <3 the bills ill never give up on THEM

You can see that they have the talent and ability to win but with all those turnovers they make it really hard on themselves. With this team I feel there is hope for the future. I’m still hoping for a 10-6 season.

Those penalty are all more or less judgment calls… 12 (or 13 lol) players on a field is more of a night and day thing. You cant have things like pass interference reviewable, because every ref has their own classification of what “interference or a hold” is. The refs jobs would become even more magnified and it would slow down the game too much. It would bring up more controversy than resolution.

That’s what I voted for. And I’ll be damn happy to get it.

I’ll be happy just to make the playoffs, even if we lose in the first round. This team has so much potential for the future. It’s a really young team and I’m sure as shit not disappointed in them.

So true…

This is the first time this season I have almost lost faith in the team. I do believe that if we brought our best (or close to it) to the next 8 games, we will go 7-1 for the rest of the season, but the fact remains that we did not bring our best to the last two games. This scares the shoit out of me.

I hope we can get out act together.

Consistency is a big issue right now. When that team clicks and finds a good rythm together, it becomes a hell of a show.

yes but they are still penalty’s and should not be allowed to be challenged… if they ref misses it to bad… but hey i don’t make the rules i just make fun of them… including that stupid kick rule
