Official Android thread

all i can think of when i hear quad core is super shitty battery life. I’d rather see them put the research into better batteries at this point.

Yeah, unless that thing is pumping a like 5000mAh battery, it will probably last about 30 minutes.

Looks like droidlife is stating it has a 2050mAh removable battery

Galaxy Nexus runs a 1850 and the MAXX runs a 3300…not good. We’ll see though.

Yeah we’ll see. Quad cores don’t necessarily mean worse battery life, but pretty much every advancement in mobile tech in the last 2 years has come at the cost of battery life. So, yeah.

The US version probably won’t have the quad core processor anyway.

wtf are you doing on your phone that you want a quad core chip?

Do you know how often I think about going to a flip phone?

Every waking moment?

honestly, all i want is a motorola two way pager.

Meh, it’s a gadget: Because it sounds cool. And to future proof it. Eventually there will be mobile software that actually runs faster on 4 cores than 2. :stuck_out_tongue:

Or use it as my primary PC via hdmi out + ICS’s support for bluetooth keyboards and mice. Even then current dual core phones are fine.

This thing’s not all that compelling. I love the screen size, hate the physical home button and am skeptical of the camera. I’d be worried that the Samsung radios would be just as buggy with connectivity issues as the G-Nex. The whole talk with your phone siri-like thing doesn’t really interest me. I’m never in a situation where’s it’s socially OK to have a conversation with my phone. Besides if it’s any good the dev community will port it all over anyway. All of Samsung’s automatically-share-everything-you-do software would get disabled immediately too.

I’ll probably just grab the incredible 4G when it launches. I heard May 17th. Great camera, blazing fast processor, fits in my pocket.

Ipod and a land line? Smoke and a pancake?

loving my new razr maxx! reception is great, no force close, and of course no battery issues!! I can have every feature on and the phone will still last all day no problem

I am unimpressed with the SGSIII … Glad to have gotten my Nexus when I did, that’s all I can say.

How’s the battery life? I assume you’re running a custom kernel and rom? How about bugs/connectivity issues?

yeah WAY too much hype for SGSIII nexus looks better IMO

I’m stock. Battery life is fine for me. I use a car charger during my 30+ minute commute and plug in at the office. I stream Pandora in the car and for a few hours at the office so I always need to plug in. Connectivity is OK… I’ve seen better. The new radios helped a bit but I don’t think they made any drastic change.

They finally fixed my exchange issues which is huge.

The phone is much snappier overall. Any hint of lag is completely gone. More polished than 4.0.2 for sure.

Care to enlighten us on how the GNex is better than the SGS3? Sounds more omgpuregooglefanboi than anything else. Just curious.

lol Nexus owners are the civic fanboys of the mobile world.

“OMG PURE GOOGLE FIRST UPDATES WOOOOOOOOOOO”
waits 25% of contract for major big fixes

Yeah I’m kinda disappointed in the Galaxy Nexus.

4.0.4 is slowly trickling out after what 6 or 7 months after release
Battery life is poor and the only real way to boost it is to add a hunk of battery that makes your phone look like it has a tumor (it’s not a tumor /arnold) or to use only CDMA. In turn makes this a useless 4G phone
They STILL have not released the three pin charging docks/car mounts (See Here: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/02/samsung-galaxy-nexus-docks-and-chargers-get-a-proper-fondling-prongs-put-to-use/).
Multiple confirmations of random reboots.
I sent my original two back with the help of Jeff. My fiancee’s would reboot randomly…a lot, especially after trying to dismiss the alarm. Mine did the same, but there was something physically wrong with it because the performance was worse than my OG Droid.]
Camera is mediocre, and really only snaps good pictures in the right lighting…Well maybe not that bad, but it’s not impressive for a flagship phone.

Although, it doesn’t have any Verizon infusion which spares you from the lame shit apps VZW thinks you need.
The bump/NFC technology is cool, but sharing stuff is limited.

when choosing a droid its pretty much “which one gives me the least amount of issues?”

Sounds like an iPhone ad

Haven’t used a car charger since I got the Maxx. All the issues I had were hardware, which if it wasn’t 2sided taped together in addition to screws, I could have easily tucked the ribbon tapes back in except the one refurb that wouldn’t connect to 4g.

You’re the Phone version of me with Cars… you use a blackberry b/c it works but doesn’t do all the cool shit, I drive a washing machine, b/c it gets me where I’m going.

watch out for the spin cycle bro

just a matter of opinion.

for me the GNex physically looks better than the SGS3
samsungs touchWiz looks atrocious
I like stock android especially ICS
updates dont really matter to me as long as I get them
GNex is easy to root/unlock and as a developer having that is important to me
