Mine has been flawless, minus the dip in the water, it wouldn’t charge right for a few minutes after. A blow dryer fixed that within 5 min

Welp going back to a iPhone 5s

Google IO Keynote @ 12:00pm EST

The next version of Android will be a major release, and after years of 4.x versions, Google is ready to go to Android 5.0 with the name of another sweet treat - Lollipop, according to ‘reliable sources’ speaking for Bulgarian tech insider Nixanbal.

Google continues on its tradition of naming Android versions with consecutive letters of the alphabet, and Lollipop comes after the following releases:

GET READY FOR ANDROID 5.0 LOLLIPOPAndroid 4.4 Kitkat
Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Android 3.0 Honeycomb
Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Android 2.2 Froyo
Android 2.0-2.1 Eclair
Android 1.6 Doughnut
Android 1.5 Cupcake
The first two versions were simply referred to as Android 1.0 and 1.1 without any well-known public names associated with them.

Of course, neither the version number, nor the name come as a huge surprise, but having the confirmation from a source with fairly spotless reputation (the same source had big scoops that turned out true about the LG G3 among others) is definitely appreciated.

The new Android version will be unveiled at Google I/O today - stay tuned, as the event kicks off at 9am PT | 12pm ET today and you can watch the 2014 I/O livestream here.

Well I jumped ship over to Verizon and got on my girls plan. Tired of paying $100 a month. Shes works for First Niagara and gets a nice discount.
After searching and looking at phones I picked up the Droid MAXX. I love this phone, its snappy, amazing battery life, and its the most “pure” android that I’ve used besides my Nexus 4. Motorola seems fast with updates as 4.4.4 is already rolling out. I charged the phone Monday night and this morning it still has 70% left. My N4 usually has around 15-20% by the time I get home from work. Screen size is perfect for me. Its a little heavy but I knew that coming in because of the battery. Over all this is a great phone and coverage/data has been great.

Yay, Android 5.0!

That screaming you hear in the force is the sound of millions of 1 year old or less Android phones going obsolete because they’ll never get the update.

Obsolete, nah. I think the Moto X will probably get it. Plus you’d have plenty of other phone choices to choose from that would also have it.

Speaking of updates. My MAXX is now downloading 4.4.4

iFags lol

My LG G3 should arrive today or tomorrow. Considering I’ve been using a droid x for the past 6 years, this will be a noted improvement haha.

I was on the fence with the G3. Let me know what you think. I ended up with a S5 Active.

Droid MAXX battery life.

Edit: This is with battery saver and night/sleep mode on.

Very nice. I see you’re using power toggles?

Battery Widget Reborn app.

Oops

@LZ Had any fun with this yet?

My favorite part:

After receiving word of this vulnerability, we quickly issued a patch that was distributed to Android partners

Uh huh. So unless you’re running pure Android on a Nexus good luck with seeing a patch for this before 2015 by the time the carriers actually push out the update, if they even offer one for your phone.

except that with Google Play Services they can update the app scanning (aka “Verify Apps”) to check for this exploit so its not that big of a deal IMO

I just loled at “The high-impact vulnerability has existed in Android”

The catch phrase is growing everyday

Also the Google play store isn’t really a magical fix for this

So what would be the best choice in a new android phone? My biggest requirements are a GPS that works and good battery life something my GS3 hasn’t been capable of for a long time now.

I’m not sure which OS layer would fix the vulnerability, but google play services is much more than just the store. Google has been breaking out much of their core functionality and pushing it into google play services so that they can push updates over the air without involving carriers and oems. The idea is that anything that’s not tied to hardware (kernel, drivers, etc…) is able to be updated at any time.

So hopefully a fix will be available via google play services.

yeah Im not talking about got play store im talking about google play services, 2 different things
