I’ve gotten some strange from drinking fruit beer at parties before. It’s a surprisingly good conversation piece, and hoes love it almost as much as marb menthols.
yeah, women who drink beer do seem to love fruity beers. They are only talking to you in that whole “gay friend” way though.
I’m not a fan of the fruity tasting beers. That Sam Adams cherry wheat was aweful IMO.
I also prefer a lighter beer. I get a taste once in a while for a dark, but generally prefer a lighter taste/color.

Try Choufee’s tripel IPA, it’s freaking good as well.
With warmer weather upon us, I am now typically drinking Long Trail Belgian White. It’s a very low IBU Belgian Witbier style*. Definite citrus notes. Low on the alc. content, but delicious on a warm, sunny day.
*Not for dark beer lovers.
Also, my experience with Saranac has been far less than stellar. I can’t say which ones I’ve drank, but I was far from impressed with what I did have.
I love belgian beer. Premier on delaware have a good selection, also a bar in lewiston has them on tap ($$$)
They make every other beer taste so plain and jane, wish they were not so expensive.
Your suppose to let them sit for a day and not pour the last cm of beer due to the dead yeast.

Good call on the Trappistes, love the Rochefort, also try Chimay, it’s their best known beer.
Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter is one of my new favs (Brewed as a tribute to Hunter S. Thompson), also their Amber Ale is a great summer brew.
Ommegang Three Philosophers is one of my fav Belgians.
Köstritzer is an excellent dark German beer.
As far as letting a Belgian beer sit I’ve never heard of that. I just pour it and save the last few drops then roll the bottle on the counter briefly to gather the yeast and pour it onto the head of the beer for extra flavor, it won’t hurt you.
Also if you want to experience a beer properly, be sure to use the proper glass. (Check their site if you don’t know, or google it)

While I like a lot of the beers straight from Belgium (actually heading to Brussels in sept), I’m a big fan of some of the offerings from “Belgian” breweries in North America, such as Unibroue and Ommegang. La Fin Du Monde (tripel) and Trois Pistoles (strong belgian dark) are some quality beers at a pretty solid price. Hennepin and Rare Vos are quite good as well.
Wegmans in WS. I pretty much use them and Consumers for 99% of my beer needs…(I’m not including local bars that house the good stuff). You’re very right that Norht American Belgian styled beers are a solid choice, but for me nothing beats the Trappists.
I’ll have to check to see if it’s on again this year…but Brewery Ommegang hosted a “Belgium Comes to Cooperstown” event last June that a few friends and I went to. 50 breweries showed up with ~200 beers to sample…needless to say we had a good time:) Three Philosophers were being handed out like water…which we treated like sluts by discarding them the second a better beer was presented to us…good times! Camped out overnight right there, bonfire, music, great food…so much fun.
