Sigh…I own a crazy busy shop, am 38 years old, have two kids with a lot of activities between them. With that said, bars aren’t usually on the schedule, so I couldn’t give you the faintest idea of who has decent beers on tap, other than the Amherst Alehouse and Pizza Plant.
However, my beerfridge selection is typically better than most bars, and for the price of 3 normal beers in most places, I can buy a 6-pack of Ruination.
I’m still working on getting a 6-pack of Russian River Brewing’s Pliny the Younger and Pliny the Elder beers. I owe one to a guy down at Consumer’s Southtowns who helped me out with something a while ago. If I get any, I’ll be happy to sell them for $15/bottle.
So what you are saying is we can come to your house and drink your beer. Meanwhile once you are nice and drunk I can convince you to do work on my M5 on the cheap. WIN!!! lol
A good friend of mine who is a big home brewer set up a tasting at Empire Grill a few months back. They were cool with us bringing in a few coolers of our own beer and ordering their food. Next time he does a tasting I can post up the details as we’re always looking for more beer geeks to share the good times with. Here’s his rolling-cart brewery in the works…
I hear ya, I’m just as apt to crack a few on the deck with some friends and food as I am to go out, however when I do go out I like to know I have the option to get something better than piss to drink.
The Pliny’s are def good! Where are you getting yours from?
Magic Hat Wacko
Buffalo Brew Pub
Light summer style brewed with Beet Sugar…
Very good summer/light beer with lots of taste.
Better be comfortable in your manhood drinking it though… it’s Pink!!! And the bartenders at the BP have no problem bustin your balls on drinking a pink beer! Love Ya Oni!!!
Someone I cycle with has and Aragant Bastard Ale jersey and I was always curious how the beer was as I was staring at the jersey climbing some retarded hill. Don’t think it would be my type of beer. I am all about the Sam Adams Summer Ales, drinking a few as I type post ride, SOOOOO good.
Here’s how I like to rate beer: If Sam Adams Summer Ale is in 5th grade…Arrogant Bastard is a senior in High School, and Dogfish Raison D’etre is about to graduate college:)
LOL yeah they both have diff purposes for me. I like the bitterness and hops flavor of the arragont for outdorrs and summer days. The Dogfish for a few to start the night or with a nice meal. Also I drink a good amount of Fat Tire, Rogue Dead Guy Ale and a few other Rogue beers all the time.
Negative much more hoppy and bitter I guess is the only way to describe it. Like an IPA that has been loaded full of awesome. I loved the Oaked stuff from last weekend. I will consume more tomorrow. Also both dogfish and stone beers in general are quite a bit more potent which I like.
I can go out to…I dunno, whereever, and order some half-assed beer(s). Say a Sam Adams/Yuengling/Sierra Nevada/Etc. And I have 3 of these things, go to cash out, and round my bill up to about 20 bucks. And I can do this a few times/month and easily spend over 100 bucks.
Or I can go to a decent beer store, or hit up some helpful friends, and spend $150-200/month for some really kick-ass stuff that fills the beerfridge.
