^ Nice. Either way I will be rooting for Detroit to bite it.
I’m still not real sure about the presidents trophy. Look at the history of teams that have won it. Not a lot of cup winners in the list of presidents trophy winners.
ehhh curses don’t apply to buffalo teams…they have the ultimate curse, they are buffalo teams

The last team to win the presidents cup that also won stanley’s cup was the dallas stars. I don’t need to tell you who they beat to win the cup either. I don’t believe in curses or jinxing a team but if i did i would say the sabres were long overdue.

So you are saying the history of the presidents trophy means you don’t want to win it…
I say Win the presidents trophy, and win the Cup, guess what curses are pointless to believe in
Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff is optimistic that injured center Tim Connolly will be able to play this weekend when the Eastern Conference-winning Sabres conclude their regular season with games in Washington and Philadelphia.
No, my take on the presidents trophy is win it if it comes, but don’t play guys you wouldn’t play if detroit had clinched it.
Aka, sit Miller out the next 2 games. Put Peters out there. Roll that 4th line a lot. It’s a long damn road to the cup, as we learned the hard way last year, and I’d much rather see us rested and healthy going in than banged up just so we can put a pointless banner in the rafters.
I don’t see Washington or Philly rolling over and playing dead. There are a lot of guys there who will be looking to leave, and what better way than by showing your stuff against the best team in the league.

 just sounded like you wanted to throw the final two games so we didn’t get the pres trophy, becuase you were too concerned with the curse and the sabres losing the shot at the cup…
Which… I think this maybe the sabres last shot at it for a while…

4-6-07: Per his interviews with the media on Friday, Ruff indicated after the morning practice that Connolly “handled eveything pretty well…he made some nice plays in the drills. I thought the battling and one-on-one stuff down-low, he was able to keep pace.” Ruff added that they’ll check to see how Connolly feels tonight before deciding when to use him. Ruff also confirmed that the Sabres would like to get him in both games this weekend, if “he feels well enough to play”. Ruff also elaborated on Connolly’s practice by saying that “you could see that the hands are still working great - it was more to see what the legs were going to do…get some battles and get some fatigue and let him recover today and see how he feels tonight. By 7:00, he’s going to feel one way or the other…real good or fatigue will be a factor”. Ruff was optimistic that Connolly would be OK but emphasized that “we’re not going to take out someone that is going to help the team and risk Tim in an injury situation…I don’t want Tim hurt. I want him to play…I don’t want to risk injury just for the sake of giving him a look”.
.
And yet another reason why Lindy > *

depending on the cap, and teams like Pittsburgh.
http://wgr550.com/sabres/payroll.php
look at who we have to sign…
Also, Pittsburgh, I can’t imagine what they will be able to do next year… or Ottawa, being a constant threat… If we can keep some talent, good we’ll have shot next year… if we can’t … lets hope our rochester talent really really improves
trade Kotalik, let Briere, Numminen and Zubrus go
Everyone else we can sign and get under the cap. With all the depth we have we are looking good with the young guys like Stafford, MacArthur and Paille. They already proved themselfs
Pitts needs a goalie. Yeah, they will be good. But there are chances we wouldn’t even play Pitts of Ottawa in the playoff this year or next. We will be good for a few years. Maybe not the best, but we will have a couple shots at the cup.
i think this is teppos last year, maybe he has 1 more left buf i think this is his last. i would imagine he’ll retire after this year. i would like to keep kotalik; i wasn’t too into him earlier in the season, but he has a great shot and he can really produce in the shootout. although so can stafford, and I would assume he’ll stay in the nhl fo sho. i think we’re going to try to keep briere and drury. obv it may be a one or the other situation, but we may be able to keep both. yea, we’ll probably lose zubrus though. too expensive. although i do like him, hes def starting to click with us. paille hasn’t really been doing it lately. he has had so many perfect opportunities that he couldn’t capitalize on. and macarthur, i do like him, and think hes a better 4th liner than say mair, but im not sure what will happen with him.

Detroit won the presidents cup last year because of their division. They beat up on Columbus, St Louis and Chicago 8 times each. They obviously weren’t worthy of holding the cup, but I think Buffalo is.
Not that it’s a super important thing to have, (other than home ice advantage in game 7 if they play against Detroit), but if they are this close to winning it and Buffalo has never won it before, might as well be this year.
FOLKS its not like if their chances are going to improve in the cup run if they lose the next few games…
I’m gonna smack all of you.
Go Buffalo!
throw conks in if we win/tie washinton or chicago wins against the redwings. ur still going to want to play the guys hard no matter what. the past 2 games have been about getting the sabres in playoff mode. lindys not going to want them to let off for the remaining 2…even if they are easy teams.

Yeah, but the last 3 games of the season are against teams that are already out of the playoffs. They are games the Sabres SHOULD win, and carrying the winning attitude into the playoffs is a nice thing for the team. Definitely builds their confidence. But I definitely agree with you that it doesn’t decide the fate of their post season record.
Yeah man I agree too. I think sabres should be balls out in the last two games. Need to get in that playoff mentality:tup:
^ And if playing balls out we lose Briere or Tallinder, how would you feel about that decision then?
These guys have been to the playoffs before. They will have no problem getting in a playoff mindset once the playoffs start. No need to run them hard on two meaningless games.
