Ottawa doesn’t impress me that much. They’ve got one impressive line with Heatley, Alfredsson and Spezza, and their second line isn’t bad, but outside of those 2, there isn’t much there. And Hasek, although playing well, is walking a thin line right now. If ANY of their major players gets injured, they’re in trouble. And imagine what would happen if Hasek went out…
The Sabres have been doing good because of the depth that exists in their lines. Dumont was out for how long, and we barely lost a step, Miller went out with the thumb and Biron went on a win streak that broke a club record. Etc, etc…
Anyways, despite Ottawa always fairing better in the regular season, we always seem to beat them when in counts.
If you take out that bad early start that the sabres had, we’re right there with them statisically. Its not the team with the best record that wins the Cup, it’s the team that finishes the strongest.
The game on the 4th will be a good one.

Ottawa is not unbeatable… but they are very good. But it’s not like we don’t have a shot at catching up to them. We are really just as good in my opinion.
I dont blame Hasek AT ALL for what he did. Hasek, in my eyes, is the best goaltender to EVER play in the nhl. Do you blame the dude for leaving the shit team that we had so he could win a cup before he got too old? I dont. Its not like we were going to win had he stayed, OUR TEAM SUCKED. He is also a HUGE part of why ottawa is where they are. They are the least scored on team in the nhl.
But as far as not being impressed with that team, I dont see how you could NOT be. Ottawa is just like the sabres this year only with some big name players who will get the job done. When we played them every game this year, even when we were pretty hot, we couldnt do shit! Their defense fucking ripped apart every single line that we have.
They are the biggest test for the sabres this year, hands down. If we cant figure out a way to beat them then we will not make it into the stanley cup finals.

to me, both teams are identical. they are mirror images of each other. Depth throughout the roster, quick fast pace clubs which have top notch goaltending. They are very similiar to one another. and work well as a team, the players are in a rythm with each other. What gets the sabres i think is the lack of confidence against the sens. I think they are very much intimidated by them.
outside of calgary and vancouver, every other quality team that we’ve played we have been successful against. I know the sabres can beat them. They need to just have confidence and do what they’ve been doing all year long. It will come to them.
as for ottawa, you just have to respect them too. they have done an amazing job and they work well as a group. Hasek is the devil and it disappoints me to see him go to a team that are our rivals after everything we’ve done for them. In my eyes, Buffalo made Hasek a star. He was a backup goalie for chicago until we gave him the chance to play as a starter. He developed here and honed his skills. He should end his career here and should love and appreciate this city like LaFontaine, Gare, Perrault etc.
Buffalo did not make Hasek a star. He made himself a star. Had hasek been on any other top 10 team in the league, his fingers wouldve been filled with rings.

yeah I don’t get why you hate him so much. Had he not been in buffalo for the majority of his days, we would have been a lot worse. The guy stayed through some bad years, he deserved to win a cup. He’ll always been known as a sabre.

He sat down with Boston management, told them he had one season left and wanted a cup. He didn’t say “trade me for some worthless fucking hack player.” He just went and signed…no trades, no holdouts, no disputes. He wins a cup with Colorado…know what the first thing he did after he won was? WENT BACK TO BOSTON. Huge fucking parade, huge celebrations, everyone was happy. He won with Colorado, he treasured his Boston heritage. Thurman Thomas…even that ass retired as a Buffalo Bill.

My girlfriend used to work for the sabres and she has a personal hate for him. When she was a cashier at the sabres store he accused her of stealing his checkbook and wanted her fired on the spot. They sent her home for the day and later found out that his check book was returned to him from the bar where he had left it. Never recieived an apology from him either.
