The league needs to do something about those cheap little shots after the whistle has blown. I realize that hockey is a rough sport, but shit like that is just wrong. Pominville wasn’t harrassing the goalie at all and he gets cross-checked (okay, considering he was standing in the crease I’ll let that go) but then to get smacked in the back of his head by Hatcher, with the end of his stick no less?!?!?!?! I thought the reason they put two referees out there was to catch the stupid little shit, not get in the way of plays

:tup: to him recognizing. I must admit, esche played very well. If it werent for our D that game couldve gone completely the other way. I was also amazed by our forechecking. They recovered the puck on almost every shoot-in. Sabres really had their shit together tonight, excluding a few minutes in the 1st and 2nd period, but other than that they played freaking awesome!
I actually agree and disagree with you on this one. The punch to the back of the head, while being a cheapshot, is also telling the forwards or whoever not to fuck around in that area. That is something hockey should never get rid of and if they did enforce a rule against that then hockey would go to shit. First they get rid of that, next who knows. The cross-check however WAS total bullshit. That is the kind of crap that can injure a player pretty severely. Spinal injuries aint no joke ya seeeeeeeeeeeee?
See… I don’t mind pushing and shoving, or even a quick jab to the face. Like you said, its sending a message to the other team not to fuck around. What pissed me off was that Hatcher used the end of his stick. The force from such a focused point has the possibility of doing ALOT more damage then force from the face of a glove.
Hockey’s a rough sport and anyone who complains about that fact is not a true fan. But certain lines of decency need to be drawn: you don’t see fighters going for nut shots because it just isn’t decent.
What Hatcher did is above and beyond any reasonable action. Pommenville was already down on his knees from the cross check and probably didn’t even know that Hatcher was there. What’s next? Is Hatcher gonna tee one up like his team mate Brashear did 6 years ago to the side of McSorley’s head?
Rambling on, NyQuil starting to take affect :bloated: All I know is that Buffalo played a great game and I’m hoping they can carry this energy through Ottawa and actually get a win against those one hit wonders!!!

But yeah, the line between a punch to the back of the head (stick or no stick) and what brashear did is pretty thick. I dont agree with hatcher using his stick and honestly I didnt even notice that.

I watched the game last night which was the first game I had seen in about 2+ years. It was one of the best games I have seen in a long time. I am amazed at the amount of hustle the team shows. I don’t remember them ever chasing after pucks and making such crisp passes to set up good shots in the past. Time to buy some tickets.
I just wish I got to see more of it. I went to see my gf’s play hockey at the same time the game started. He’s on Williamsville Souths varsity team. Pretty good game… they won 1-0 and he had some nice hits. Took a few people out nice and hard. :tup:
Im looking foward more to the hockey on sat than football, cant wait.
