anybody know when Dragonfly will release their list? i know last year they had a handful of big names wednesday nights…Above and Beyond, Ferry Corsten…and i know the year before that they even got Tiesto…
i have some friends going to this…totally jealous.
but at the same time, i’ve seen most of the big names from that list separately…and all the tickets together don’t add up to what i would pay to go to this show…so it’s not a huge deal to me.

I’ve been kicking around going there for the past 5 years. Last time I looked I figured a week would end up being in the ballpark of $3k total or so. Although, the weak dollar could really hurt on spending over there.
Meh the extra cost from the weak dollar is the last thing you would be thinking about while we are partying over there. I was figuring 3-4k if i go as well. So how bout it when we goin?
Havent been on much lately, but im stuck at home due to shitty storm so I figured id give this an update.
Got my gear a while back. It is SO much fucking fun. I debated for a few months on the whole TT vs CDJ debate, but ended up going with CDJs. And holy shit am I glad I ever did. Nothing against a good set of 1200s because for a scratch DJ they cant be beat, but man there is so much you can do with a good set of CDJs and solid mixer, especially one with an already stout built in effects unit like mine. And I am of course only beginning to learn and get the hang of the basics of it all. My next step is going to be adding Traktor Scratch, I held off on that initially because I wanted to learn my way around the equipment, but now that I am comfortable, I am gonna go ahead and get that as well so I dont even have to bother burning CDs anymore.
Anyways for anyone that may even know what this shit is, I ended up going with:
2x CDJ1000MK3 cd players
1x DJM800 mixer
2x KRK RP8 studio monitors
1x KRK RP10S studio subwoofer
The sound quality is absolutely phenomenal, its really just a joy to even just plain listen to music on this setup. And thats on 320kb mp3s ive been spinnin, i would imagine wav files would be even better. Ive been going apeshit on beatport lately, I think ive spent close to $500 over the past month on tracks, I just cant stay out of the electro house page :picard: 
But whatever, I can honestly say that I enjoy DJing probably more than any other hobby Ive ever had. So its all money well spent.

that’s a really nice setup. i love my RK5s with the same subwoofer…great setup and my mixes translate well onto consumer systems every time. they’re awesome for the money, can’t be beat. I have the 5s for space reasons and they’re dope, I’ve heard the 8s and they are bananas as well (fellow producer has them)
that buy now - body crash shit is out on beatport, bought it on my bday when it dropped. fire. i love the crunch in that shit…a crossover blog house track finally that’s actually well produced and tolerable…count me in. plus the sample is so well flipped it’s unreal.
CD DJs are probably a really good look for what you’re doing anyways. Pioneer shit has always been my favorite…I have a DJM-909 mixer personally and I love it. Your mixer is really really nice too, I’ve used one shortly at OPM a long time ago.
