Ugh, this thread already. It’s depressing how fast this summer went. Probably because we didn’t have one… I’ll def be on the slopes all over WNY.
how u like the silencers? I’m rockin some Volkl Legends that are getting up there in age and most likely will be upgrading soon.
I like them…they’re pretty solid all around. My only complaint is they’re a little skittish at higher speeds, but they carve just fine. They also floated really well in the powder when I had them out in Tahoe.
I’m still learning how to properly ride switch, but they’re also pretty good in the transition from regular to switch so far. We’ll see as I get better.
thanks for the info- keep me posted man
Line twin tips myself, didn’t get out last year b/c i’m a fggt and didn’t have the extra money. not looking good this year either, considering i used to get 100+ days every year this is lame.
Glove-wise, I’ve had two pairs that I’ve sworn by. One pair was a pair of Scott Park Ranger. They stopped making them last year, but they seem to have a pair this year that looks pretty comparable (Scott Bolt).
The other glove I used all last season while living up here in VT and skiing Killington regularly was a pair of Burton AK Tech glove. I skied close to 50 days until a severe shoulder injury knocked me out for a while in February. Even during the mega cold snap we got in January with windchills around negative 20 degrees, those gloves kept my hands plenty warm.
I prefer minimalist style and have found that a bulkier and more thick glove does not necessarily result in warmer hands. The key I’ve found is in performance layers of poly-pro like Helly Hansen’s base layers, or even EMS makes a few real good base layer shirts. Keep your core warm, and your hands and toes will be good.
Thanks!
Yea, I wear full under-armor, shirts and pants. I wear the pants because I have a Donjoy kneebrace that I have to wear while boarding, and it works great with that combo.
I’ll look into those gloves though.
No problem. I’ve had great luck with Helly Hansen polypro but have heard that Icebreaker brand baselayers are the best out there (pricey though as well). Leg-wise I wear fleece pajama pants under my pants, lol. Super warm and breathable.
On another note…
I have 2 pairs of skis I ski on regularly.
For All-Mountain and everyday riding -Line Prophet 100 in 186cm length
For Park - Line Invaders in 178cm length
Board-08 GNU banana
bindings-08 Burton Cartels
Boots- 09 Burton Moto
Ill be going at least twice a week once the snow hits
74 days left…
Still waiting on my Board to come in… grrrr… been 2 weeks since I ordered it…
Picked up my Bindings this past weekend from Smaefer; thanks!!! Ride CAD’s, I think they’re the '08 models, but they’re brand new, and they cut me an awesome deal on them.
Once I get the board in, just need to figure out what I want to do for stomp-traction; and probably a new helmet…
I actually can’t wait. I have been looking at used boards and probably gonna get a ticket and take a class the first few times renting and see if I keep with it.
I am in WS so if anyone wants to start car pool, I would be game on the weekends.
I’m in Cheektowaga; so I’d be down for some car-pooling for sure.
I don’t suggest weekends for your first trip down there; honestly… it’s too busy.
They started offering lessons at night; so I’d suggest a Monday or Tuesday evening; the learning hill is pretty dead and you’re going to have a lot more room to learn without having to worry about taking people out.
Buffalo Boards opens this Saturday for anyone looking to check out all the new shit. Well… burton/K2
Ah good thinking. I get out at 5 so I can head out after work during the week when people wanna go.
I worked a deal with my Boss for Monday’s… he’s cool with me bailing outta here at 3:30-4 as long as I have everything caught up and nothing pressing… so most Monday’s I’m going to be leaving my house by 4:30.
You should see if you can bounce early one Monday once the season gets going and the hills are in decent shape.
I have a lot of vacation open still so I can take off during the week and 1/2 days.
Just got the email… Holiday Valley is ranked #4 in the east this year!!!
haha, what a joke
Picked up the new board tonight… Got it all setup, feels AWESOME!!! Better than my last setup ever felt. Gotta do the rest of the setup once the snow flies.
So my official setup this year:
'10 Lib-Tech Dark Series 161W
'08 Ride CAD Bindings
'06 Burton Shaun White Boots
(And a '07 Don-Joy Defiance III knee brace, LOL)
holiday valley is always listed in the top 10 every year, its not the size of the runs as much as it is the community, the layout, the lodges, the things to do, the difference in runs they have throughout the whole place.
cant wait to get this show on the road though! summers done, just drop the snow already! lol
