Official road bicycling thread?

I used Mapmyride back in 06 I want to say and it was still beta. I gave up on it as it would freeze/take forever to come back, etc etc. Is it still like that?

from my experience, still terrible, I tried using it and quit after about 6 lockups.

I’ve used it twice with no issues.

what browser are you using? I tried Firefox and Chrome w/no success.

The best is when you are about 90% done and the bitch freezes up. I actually found some of my old routes from Eden to Springville and back through Boston.

try using runkeeper on you phone. Maps out routes very well, even shows when you cross streets.

Spam I use mapmyride on Firefox. but I mostly use it on my iphone tracking live data as I ride.

I have that @ MyTracks apps on my Samsung android phone, just haven’t used them yet. Supposed I should start…

picking up a 2011 felt z85 in a few days, more interested in the urban rides myself though (at least for now)

::SPAM::

I’m still doing tune ups!!!

just got the iMapMyRide+ app off the market, is this what you use?

I’m an old shop rat myself. If I need a wheel built, that’s all I don’t do, I’ll get in touch. I revalve shocks, rebuild forks, ect ect.

Get out on it. Once you’re comfortable on it, I have no problems with adjusting pace to suit the group, (unless I can’t keep up, can’t do much about that)

Just got my knee issue diagnosed and confirmed the other day, VMO/Patella instability due to unequally developed quads (outter lobe vs. inner). No real “repair” just have to adjust my resistance training to focus on my inner quad with more extension work along with toe out hack @ regular squats and balance everything out.

Yes.

Bought a specialized Tri-Cross sport early last year. Went with a cyclocross bike because of all the dirt roads around here but 99% of the time I’m on pavement so I sorta regret it. Either way I have some road tires coming that should make that a bit easier.

Anyone do any charity rides? I’m doing the metric century for the Bike MS in Keuka at the end of the month. I just about died on a 60 miler I did a couple weeks ago so this 67 miler is going to be interesting.

Keuka is hilly from what I remember of it. A cyclocross bike with 700x23c tires isn’t that far off a road bike. I did the 100 mile Ride for Roswell route with a guy who was on a cross bike and he did pretty well. If you’re on 700x35c knobby tires, then yes, you’ll want something a bit more road friendly.

Yeah, it’s going to be rather hilly. I believe there are 2 cat 4’s and a cat 3 on the route.

Right now it has knobby 700x32’s. I ordered some Gatorskin 700x25’s just because I do still occasionally hit up rougher roads and I’m hoping the 25 width will help a bit.

I run 700x23c Continental Gator Skin and I love them-really durable over the roads in the southtowns that they tar and put gravel on as a way of repaving them.

Yep, I have a couple friends that ride too and that’s what they use. Said they’ve never had a flat with them.

People RAVE about the GP4000’s from Conti, I’ll likely get those, and maybe a gatorskin for the rear. I may go 25 over 23 though, try to get a little more tire under my ass.

That was actually the other tire they recommended for me but said the gatorskins were a bit tougher and with the shit roads around here I went with them.

I had the GP4000’s and I was tearing through them, literally. Ever since I threw on the Gatorskin I haven’t had a flat.
