Uggh. I haven’t run in a week and that nerve thing is still bothering me. Could barely walk for a few minutes yesterday, comes and goes at random. The internet says it’s a pretty common spot for an irritated nerve, called a morton’s neuroma. But it’s the internet so who knows. Could be foot aids. So I’m going to take this week off and then buy the cushiest pair of running shoes fleet feet has.
I read a funny article about a runner that wanted to try the barefoot craze so slowly worked his way up to a half marathon in vibram five fingers. Messed his feet up, limped across the finish line, stress fractured his foot. After the race a couple of Kenyan kids asked him if he really ran in those. They said they used to run to school barefoot every day until they got their first pair of shoes in high school, but that was on dirt and grass. Said he was crazy for trying to run on pavement and rocks and shit essentially barefoot.
I’m thinking about doing a 5k on Sunday. As of now they’re calling for it to be high 30’s and partly sunny. Run’s at noon. Should be fairly comfortable.
We’ll see. I’m going to fleet feet tonight to get some new shoes. If I can knock off a 4 mile run between now and Sunday without that nerve in my foot stabbing at me then I’ll probably do it. Anyone interested in joining me?

 Another 3 pounds and I can enter the 200 pounder category instead of just open registration! :hang:[COLOR=“Silver”]
Probably heading to Fleet Feet on Monday (They’re open normal hours) to pickup some shoes hopefully. Tried the ReeZig Shoes at Dicks and wasn’t nuts about them. We’ll see.
I always knew I didn’t have high arches, but the girl measured me up and said my arches are low to flat and need a shoe with moderate control. I tried on like 4 or 5 different pairs and walked away with a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 11’s. I’ll go for a run tomorrow and see how they work.
Twas a beautiful day. The new shoes are feeling good. I think once I get used to them and in shape I’ll be trotting along quite comfortably. I only saw one goon in Vibrams at the race.
I can’t wait to move into my new house and for spring to come. Can’t sleep so I just mapped out what looks like a 5-6 mile route from my house through Buckhorn park and back. Some road, some bike path, even some dirt trail. More than half is at least away from roads, if not through woods or even along the river. Should be glorious.
