Official Running Thread!!!!!!

Did a quick 2mi in the POURING RAIN at 6:30am along the lake… tired after doing a heavy chest/back last night and a VMO workout afterwards. Knees are feeling it a little bit, got sloppy and I know it. Did shoulders afterwards at the gym, dragging ass. Double endurance spin class on saturday, teaching @ NCCC this weekend should recharge the batteries with a bike ride sunday maybe.

Drew shot me a link to that. Looks incredibly awesome, but endurance athletics just isn’t my thing. 4 miles of an easy jog is tough enough for me. I don’t think would have a snowball’s chance in hell at 12 miles with a bunch of shit in the way.

Fuck it looks awesome though. Just looked at the website again. It’s not even timed. If you finish you win.

^Yep, we do that run annually, will be there! The past 2 years it has been ~90 and humid, hopefully this year does NOT follow suit

I might be seeing you there then…I’m going to stick to 5ks.

 we will meet up before the race starts

I am down to run the Mudd’s 5k

On the tough mudder I can say as someone who has completed an Army event similar to it and a marathon that I really don’t know which is worse. Although only 12 miles it is REALLY hard to do something physically exerting for 1-3min then go back to running multiple times. Next time in the middle of a run try something simple like stopping 4-5 times during to do as many pushups as you can each time. It makes the running substantially harder.

I’ll just walk from one obstacle to the next. Should only take about 3 days to finish.

Well I have this annoying cough, and sore throat for a few days now…decided to go running my usual 2mi route. Avg 10:43 min/mi (not bad for me), but now I feel like absolute garbage. I ate Burger king and 2 donuts at work so I figured I needed to work it off. Bad Idea. FML

well, my knees are hurting, likely caused by footwear. My NewBalance 991’s are pretty old… Going to swing by Runners Roost in OP omw home and get fit. I had goofy feet when I joined the army and wish they still made the Reebok DMX runners I had back then. I’d buy a dozen pair given the chance but they don’t make them except in woman’s walking shoes sigh

My running has been terrible as of late. Frustrating!

3x a week outside for 2.5mi MWF am, and been doing some on a treadmill after lifting and before spin on Mondays and wednesdays. MAD weight loss! 70lbs down, 6 to go to break 200.

I was supposed to do my big run of the week yesterday but accidentally passed out for 2 hours after work. FML.

I really need to rack up more miles. Thinking a rain run will be in order when I get home today.

went to Runners Roost, lady poked at my feet, stuffed a pair of shoes on me, (she wasn’t half bad looking either) pulled two others out, had me change my right shoe to the others and I preferred the first which she said she expected and they were on sale to boot. Icing my knees now, gonna try em out on friday.

Well, I am out for about 3-4 weeks, got my appendix out Saturday. @ProgRocker, I will probably still be at the Mudds 5k to watch my friends, see ya there?

I competed in a team Triathlon over the weekend. I got to say it was GREAT to be back out there! I was not able to get into the shape that i had hoped for but I don’t feel that i embarrassed myself either… The course was straight up a road with a incline the whole way up. I think my time was 25-30min and if so im pleased… I looking to continue my “training” and to hopefully get in some better shape and to compete in some more events.

got my knees back under me… now I have to stop overtraining. 2.5mi outside, 1.5mi inside and spin monday AM, swam this morning for an hour @ ECC downtown, and went to the gym and ran another 2. Was up til 11 last night mixing 20 bags of concrete & drilling a dozen+ holes for rebar for my garage floor to bolt down my lift, digging a hole for my new mailbox b/c my father-in-law ran it over…

just finished a 4 mile rain run. i think im mentally done with running for a bit, i just cant get into it. started doing HIIT sprints halfway thru just to switch it up…

time to start lifting again i guess

Ran 8.8 last night. Back of my right knee is suuuuuper tense today for some reason. It wasn’t giving me any trouble at all during the run. I’m thinking my stretching exercises are somewhat lacking…

I NEED to make some time for running in the next few days before I EXPLODE.

Also Get well soon Steve(bigwoode) he just had is appendix removed!
