Official Running Thread!!!!!!

^Thanks sir, I want a ride in your car before I head off to Europe! With any luck, I should be back in running action in 2-3 weeks… at least I hope.

4 miles yesterday = atrocious.

4 miles today in the rain = pretty damn good.

digging running in the rain lately.

Ran for the first time in 3 weeks due to a horrible cough. Pumped out 10:12 min/mi which is on par for my 5k time. I’ll see whomever is running the Mudd’s 5k on saturday, I’ll probably be wearing my Derrick race team shirt.

I’ve been doing Insanity for the past week, I highly suggest it… I already feel a difference and I’m only about 10% through it. My buddy did it and when he was finished after the 60 days, he knocked 2 minutes off his 1-1/2 mile time and he didn’t run AT ALL during the 60 days of training. I’m hoping it strengthens my calves a lot to negate my nasty shin splints

Wow did not know this thread existed. Big fitness guy and runner here. Keep in shape playing soccer 6 days a week and no not the old beer leagues. For you 5k runners I got one for you. watch the video. I’m signing up cuz this has to be the greatest thing ever made.

Didn’t meet up with ya BigWoode, but I finished the race in 31:57 which beat my previous 5k run.

Mondays & Wednesdays are going to be my rough days, hour spin class 2-3 outside, 2-3 inside & spin again. Goal is to maintain and up my outdoor run distance off of the cushy sping board that is the treadmill. It’s been helping my knees to run on the treadmill so it’s not all bad.

I saw you finish, congrats! I was still waiting for one more friend to come thru the finish line… I didn’t end up running, my body wasnt ready yet, but it was my first time watching a race without running in it, very cool to see the winning runner come blazing through (over a minute ahead of 2nd place, too).

There was also a guy who ran ~25:00 while juggling 3 balls, impressive.

Should have thrown something at me…lol. After Mile 2 I started getting bad cramps by my kidneys. The Big Philly Cheesesteak was probably a bad idea.

Cheesesteak! You’re lucky you didnt yak! I was about 100 ft from the finish line, went looking for you after, but it was a mess of people at the afterparty… I think my next race will be sometime in October, keep at it and hope to see you at another!

yeah let me know which one you’re doing. The fiancee and I are trying to run a bunch this year.

I’ll be doing this one on 9/11. The course goes right past my house. Can’t beat that.

had the best run of probably the last month last night. ive been being plagued by all sorts of issues/excuses. last night i just found my groove and went. perfect night for it as well.

Solid 3 miles after spin monday at the “Rape Trail” in silly-ville. Farthest I’ve run w/o stopping since starting back up, then did another spin class. Took yesterday off from cardio and did Lats/upper back and abs, Ran 3 miles outside non stop again, 1.5 on the treadmill before spin cycling up and down from 4 to 6 mph as not to die before Spin.

Jebus. That’s a silly amount of cardio.

3 yr goal is a full iron. I’m doing abs again thursday AM and a light arm workout, group ride thursday evening out of Scammerville in EA heading strait into the hills. 30+ miles of climbing with some tri people I’ve been working with. The NFTA just pulled the “Pier” from the endurance swimming crowd, $$$ ticket and threats of towed cars if caught in the water. Cross registered for ECC for an ID card and to get VA benefits for school so I can swim and not go bonkers indoor running and biking to break it up. I take my spin certification early september and I want to teach a few classes a week. Golds in Lancaster is adding a Friday AM early class so I can get in 5 spin classes a week in the morning.

Took monday off for a long weekend. Spin @ 5am, then ran almost 4mi by the lake as the sun came up.

Ran yesterday my normal 2mi route and dropped my min/mi down 40sec to 9:30 min/mi

My motivation for marathon training took a hit this weekend. My training partner broke his tibia and ankle while jumping off a cliff in San Diego. He now has bolts through his leg to hold it in place and they say it will be at least a year before he’s able to run again. :frowning:

I’m still shooting for a December/January marathon, though.

Paulo, I’ll run with ya if ya want…my fat ass needs to get back out there.

Spam, good luck with the iron man training! That shit is no joke…had a friend recently complete Lake Placid (10h46m) and I was amazed at how much training he put in.
