«OFFICIAL» Woodward Dream Cruise 2010, August 20th to 22nd

I know it’s several months away, but we’re going to start planning it anyway

For those that don’t know what this event is all about:

“the Woodward Dream Cruise is the world’s largest one-day automotive event, drawing 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars each year from around the globe.” Wiki Link

I haven’t been there in 5 years, but it was an amazing time. I’ll post some pictures in a bit, and maybe some video. Those with the NYSpeed DVD from a few years back can watch the cruise & highway run we took that weekend.

There are several side meets at night like our Southgate and Mighty meets… except much larger. I’ll have more info on this later. But there is more to do that just check out the cruise.

Hotel Info:

This is the hotel we’re staying in this year: Click HERE - Hampton Inn Detroit/Madison Heights/South Troy
Rates right now are $75.65 USD per night for a single or double. That’s pretty good.

Itinerary:

Friday August 20th

  • NY Crew meet at Mighty Taco on Eggert Road at 9:30am and will leave at 10am to meet the Ontario Crew.
  • Ontario Crew meet at Home Depot at 11:30am where we’ll be meeting up with the NY Crew and leaving the Home Depot at about Noon. (Later if the boarder wait is long.)
  • Both crews will then head to MI and our hotel. To view this route, CLICK HERE!
  • Arrival at the hotel about 4pm depending on stops for lunch, bathroom, etc.
  • After hotel check-in, get dinner and / or find a car meet?

Saturday August 21th

  • Wake up and cruise Woodward!
  • More local meets at night?

Sunday August 22th

  • Checkout and drive home!

The hotel was actually the Hampton Inn Detroit/Madison Heights/South Troy 32420 Stephenson Hwy. Right now the room rates are $94 for 8/19 and $74 8/20-8/22 for a room with 2 double beds. The hotel was great and has complimentary breakfast every morning. They were in the process of putting a pool in last year. It’s about 15 miles away from the actual cruise but it worked out great because there was better access to restaurants that weren’t overcrowded. We stayed from Thursday through Sunday last year. Thursday is a special cruise night at the Roush facilities. Friday we spent the day at Waterford Hills Race Track and Saturday was spent at the actual cruise. Getting there through Canada is the best way to go if you want to cut down on travel time.

ugh, if it wasnt a week before I leave for Europe I would be down for this…but getting time off twice that close together isnt going to fly (my job involves working weekends)

Very cool event. I’ve been there a few times.

I’m so in for this, it sounds like a blast

Maybe I think four road trips are my finacial limit.

sounds pretty good, this is a maybe for me.

Can’t beat $74! Yeah, when I went we stayed a ways away in Auburn Hills where it was much less crowded. The hotel I put in the first post is real close to Woodward, so I’d imagine it could be quite crowded.

I tried to get a quote from their website but it gave me a few errors. I’ll try again in a bit.

Are you and Mike planning on going to the track again this year?

Found a few pics from when Bing, Micah and I went in 2005. We were all over the area that weekend. We went to a local night spot for a meet the night before the cruise, and a few other fun places. Micah was driving his Del Sol and I had just finished the turbo upgrade to my car… so it looked stock but was a tad faster

Looking back I didn’t take any real shots of classic cars or of the cruise itself and most of my pics sucked but here are a few. If you want to see pics of the actual cruise, Click HERE.

Way to much stuff going on for me to attend, but have fun

Looks like ultradriver has a pic thread from a few years ago here: http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56137

And this one for fun:

Awesome old school pics  Im in for this year.

Well I love heaters so it seems I need to attend.

Not sure if I’m even going this year. My husband and I are going on a cruise through Europe but not sure what the dates are for that yet. Mike is definitely going, the hotel was booked last week for 8/19-8/22. He is most likely going to the track again. It was a lot of fun. He met a group of guys from the roush forum and we went to their house and hung out with them for the weekend. We even got reserved parking for the day of the cruise which was great. Mike has pictures from last year. When I talk to him, I’ll ask him to post them up. If the dates work out for me I may go.

providing the ROEA is doing the track day again i will most likely be attending the track day. i will post up more info when i hear more.

but i am 100% going

Sounds good. So are we on the same page as far a the Hotel goes Mike? It’s the Hampton Inn Detroit/Madison Heights/South Troy 32420 Stephenson Hwy right?

I will be here.
Usually the V guys meet Saturday morning up by 16 mile.

If you haven’t been and you are a car guy/gal you don’t know what you are missing.

If people got any questions on locations or stuff let me know.
Also, if I know you, feel free to crash at my place.

Also for the gamblers there are the Motor City, Greektown and MGM hotels.

correct

So lets book some rooms?
