Ehh not really … but why buy a 1300+ dollar turbo and skimp on a 11 dollar part to make it last longer. It will still thread up without one so in reality you dont need one.
Its like saying its water cooled so I HAVE to run coolant through it. Again not really but it does help in how long the turbine lasts.
i think he mean it ‘needs’ because of the seals… not really because there is a hole for it that nothing else will fit into
