It’s almost 4am, just saw this on IGN… I havent seen anyone else mention it so allow me to be the first.
For those of you who havent played Tokyo Xtreme Racer, let me say that its an incredibly addictive game and is by far the most authentically japanese racing game you can get at the local best buy (makes need for speed look like even more of a joke than it really is)
graphics should be a lot more polished before it hits shelves.
It is kaido battle 2… but not ‘Chain Reaction’ it’s kaido battle 2 : ‘Touge no Densetsu’, kind of a KB2.5 as an interim till the the next TXR for PS3 is brought out when the console launches. Interesting premis , I hope they carry through the TXR like setup dynamics.
It’s Kaido Battle 3 but they’ve changed quite a few things.
The layout of the screen etc looks different, and the battle mode is drawn different as well but otherwise it looks like “kaido touge no densetsu”.
Driving realism… not really there… fun as hell? YES.
Well to say it’s not there isn’t fair, it’s a lot better than most games but it’s not GT4…
It IS much better than any of the Initial D games, and it was a big improvement on the “only drift with e-brake” Kaido Battle 2…
For $20 it’s definately worth buying anyway. (if it’s the same pricing as Tokyo Extreme Racing).
TXR has/had a shitload of cars, plus a shitload of mods, and waaaaay better mod realism than gay NFS:Underground. Coolest thing there was is weight. When you rice out your ride, you make it heavier! When you spend the extra $ and get CF instead of urethane you make it lighter. Also tires seemed to make way more of a difference than they did in NFSU. And the coolest part, when you do a turbo upgrade on your car, but don’t upgrade your intercooler, your ic will heatsoak over time and you can’t drive your car at a decent speed anymore, j00 get pwned in races. And ofcourse engine swaps!! Such a great game, I could go on forever.
