so… i’m in this ongoing argument with some vw faggorts…
anyway…
they are telling me that trap speed = HP and gearing plays no role… i’m told that gearing will only adjust ET and NOT traps…
they claim that
hp = (trap/234)^3 * weight
all i said was ET is the car and the driver… traps are the car… but i said that you could swap tranny’s or gears and change traps and they are arguing that i’m incorrect…
will a car with 200 hp and 373 gears have the same trap as a car with 200 hp with 411 gears … or any gear ratio.
or any tranny setup!!!
they are claiming that HP = traps…so the only way to fluctuate traps is to gain or lose HP… i’m claiming that you can swap tranny’s or gears and fluctuate traps…
I don’t think you could change trap speed very much. maybe,MAYBE just a couple mph.(1 or 2). gear changes will make a bigger effect on e.t. unless you’re talking like 2.73 to 4.10 then you might see a few more mph. I have had two very similar trucks, some may say identicle.all the same motor mods.one had a 305 with th700 tranny and 2.73 and my current truck has a 305 with th350 and 4.10. time slips were 16.3 at 81 and my current truck has run 15.6 at 88.
on my turbo six… AND my turbo pgt… i would put my 17’s with 225-45-17’s because i would trap higher… and get better et’s… because the tire overall diameter was an inch bigger causeing me to have a longer powerband…
stock size tires just sucked… shorter power band… shittier times… at the 1/4 out of the band1
but then again my cars all tq… believe it or not… lol… so i had to find a way to keep the power down low in longer… i wish i had the gearing of the newer eclipes…
sooo anyway this is just my own theory… my car isn t to camparable to anybody’s though
