Ontario Round Rescheduled ?

Laval, QC – June 7, 2010 This weekend on the Formula Drift Driftstream. The
program’s host Jarod DeAnda, interviewed Frank Maguire, DMCC’s head of Ontario
Operations. Maguire informed DeAnda and the 287,000 Driftstream viewers that
there had been a major schedule change to The Driftmania Canadian Championships
2010 schedule. The originally scheduled Round 3 @ Mosport International Raceway
on July 3-4th would now be moved to Sept 18-19th. As a result the Sept 18-19th
event would now be the final round of the 2010 Driftmania Canadian
Championships. In the 5 year history of DMCC, a final round had never been held
outside of Quebec. When we asked Maguire and Eric Belec, DMCC’s President why
they made the change. They collective had this to say “Mosport is one of North
America’s most prestigious motorsports facilities. We wanted to make sure that
the Mosport round would be the most exciting drift event, ever held in Canada!!
By moving the Ontario round, to the end of what is sure to be a wild and crazy
event filled summer. We can use these other events, to better promote our
Ontario event, it’s a win win situation for all parties”

Maguire went on to further explain that Mosport will be investing time and
resources to pave a portion of the interior of Mosport’s existing oval track.
This will be the track used for DMCC’s events, drifting instruction, and drift
practices. The track layout was designed by Andy Yen – DMCC/Formula Drift
judge. The track’s configuration and layout will ensure some very high speeds,
and some very intense action. Be sure not to miss this event, and keep an eye
out for some updates about the track build at Mosport International Raceway.

It sounds like the oval track so that limits the possibilities of the corners they will be using to either turn 1 or turn 2 lol.

i suspect the renovations to the track were not going to be done on time so they moved the date out.

Works for me though. We will probably do another run + lapping at Watkings Glen this year since it’s on that weekend

Consider it confirmed. Round 5, the final round of The Driftmania Canadian Championships will be held @ Mosport International Raceway on Sept 18-19th. DMCC will crown their 2010 champion in Ontario for the first time in DMCC history.

As far as the course goes, this will be without a doubt the most exciting track on the DMCC schedule. It will be somewhat similar to layouts that have been run @ Irwindale Speedway.
