hey, what’s the normal operating temp of a turbo engine? gonna get an aftermarket temp. gauge, but i can only find the ones that go up to 150 Celsius. thanks!!
half way between hot and cold
The normal operating temprature for any engine should be 70-90 degrees Celcius, from what i can remember… 150 is waaaaaay to much.
EDIT: this is for coolant temp. Oil temp will be a bit higher, like 110 or something i believe.
really my ka24de runs at 190-210 thats on a auto meter temp gauge
yeah im pretty sure the thermostat`s are like 190 or something
My SR w/ Koyo rad + 16" e-fan (and a large T3 turbo) operates between 80C (175F) to 83C (180F) daily driving/highway driving. Averages about ~80C.
Track I’ll pull into pits after it hits 93C (200F) to 100C (215F)
Fahrenheit. Not Celsius.
Note: The temps I gave above are “Post-rad” (after it’s cooled).
Pre-rad is usually 10-15F higher (eg. ECU sees 180F, where as my autometer gauge which is mounted after rad, sees ~190F)
As long as your post-rad temps are in the 180F range it’s fine.
k i don’t understand because my car is non turbo and from toronto to Niagara falls with the ac on it was at 210 with out 200 driving normal at 110km 120km
is my gauge fucked up or my motor? 1995 ka24de
k, thanks, guess the gauges will work fine.
you might have a high temp stat in your engine. or your stat needs changing.
With AC your motor is obviously working a little harder.
I wouldn’t be too worried about 210F but you might want to consider flushing your coolant system and ensuring it has no air pockets.
