The Ziex 512s are NOT sticky… they’re all season tires, and bottom end ones at that.
Privided you’re looking for good treadlife and a sticky tire, you’re on the right track with the AVS ES100, but like I said, look into the gForce Sport. The Proxes 4 is also worth looking at.[/quote]
oh ya he has 15s, i forgot.
but still the 452 are stickier than the ES100s. i would try a different tire than the ES100s because they are like 8yrs old.
and the 512…the sidewall is like jello, but the 512 do make great smoke tho.
they are ok if you are light track and daily driver, get 205/60/15, 205/55 and lower all looks like pussy especially on stock suspension, if you got coils 205/55/15 is good… cool
you will laugh at me but i have goodyear assurance tires 205/60/15 on my 240 and they are superior tires… they grip like crazy in the strights AND the corners. My 240 unless i rev it out to redline and clutch dump wont spin them very well… they grip.
i can directly compare them to michilin pilots and the ride is more plush but you maintain the grip in the corners.
and to top it all off they have a 750 treadwear:) 150 000km anyone?
i can vouch for these tires!! i have riden in this car and it grips like mad!! serosuly these won’t spin! and i have great tires on mine soo i know what i’m talking about!! these are good tires
and i’d check and see if u can get federal 2055515 federals are cheap and meant for drifting!! and a guy has a deal on them in the fs tread!
Be careful when playing with tire sizes and running ABS brakes.
If you are over/under 3% of the stock tire size the ABS system may malfunction. I don’t know the details but that is what I was warned about when looking for my tires. (225-245/50/16)
Federals are cheap because they are a discount tire manufacturer based in China. These claims that they are “meant for drifting” is nothing more than a marketing scheme aimed at the tuner crowd that no other tire maker has jumped on.
You get what you pay for. The ES100 has been used as the benchmark “low cost” Ultra High Performance tire on the TireRack for the last 2 years. Its proven and a great tire for the money.
depends what you are loking for… drift, grip, daily with a little bit of performance…
I have been through a gazzillion tires…
Some thrends that I see:
ES100’s are great for every day driving with good performance.
ES100’s are great for an intermediate grip tire.
ES100’s are shit for drift, they fly apart when getting close to the wear bars, before that point they are not too bad but they get there fast.
Dunlop SP8000’s are great for daily
SP8000’s are not the greatest for grip, but will provide some stick.
SP8000’s are the best tire I’ve ever drifted on!! I love these things, wish I could find more!! they wear so evenly, and consistently right down to the cords. Better grip than your average drift slut tire.
Toyo TPT not the stickiest of tire, but good for your average street tire.
TPT’s wear like the Dunlops, very evenly, right down to the cords. No chunking at all.
TPT’s are good for drift if you are close to stock power, not a ton of grip, but a predictable tire.
