OSAP money into your car

Word.

And another thing.

There are peoeple out there who, guess what, ACTUALLY NEED THAT MONEY FOR SCHOOL!
Because of you selfish asshats, there is not enough money to go around to the people who actually need it.
Like my girlfriend, who has only been in the country for 4 years and has to work 2 jobs while going to school because OSAP didn’t even give her enough money to cover the tuition, let alone books and shit.

Same with me, except I got nothing because my parents make too much money. They did not take into consideration however, that I do not live with them, or that with all of their bills they almost break even.

The government sucks, and you all suck.
:spank:

because of all the hate goin on… id like to clairify that the money i had was a personal student line of credit… NOT osap.

and it helped me build 3 SUPER FUN cars.

as well. it wasnt going into debt… it was like… a cash advance… that was paid of promptly with almost no loss to me.

OSAP is actually a well organized and responsive program. i was reassessed on multiple occassions because of my personal income, much to my dismay, but it shows that there are people right on the ball at OSAP.

IMO someone who has only been in Canada for 4 years shouldnt get full osap anyways. OSAP is as friendly a loan program as possible and funded by tax payers, ie. our parents (assuming we are all 18 years old when we need OSAP)

It is not purely a student need based system. It works in much the same way that tuition fees work. People who do not pay into Ontario schools through Ontario taxes pay much much more… how socialist of us.

EG. ask the foreign exchange students in your classes how much their annual tuition costs… its over $10k compared to about $5k for ontario residents.

If you are born and raised in Quebec your tuition rates for Quebec Universities are the lowest in all of North America at slightly over $2200 for a full year of university.

Its nice to derive some sort of benefit out of living and paying ludicrous amounts of taxes in this province (among the highest in north america when sales, income and property taxes are considered). OSAP and Ontario University tuition rates, although high, are examples of how tax payers can actually have a benefit in the system.

Also, there is no shortage of OSAP funds. The GOV may not wish to lend more of the money because they can earn far far more of a return lending to anyone else since you dont even pay interest for 4 years or more. In fact, with regards to scholarships and bursaries there are tens of millions of dollars that do not get given away every year because not enough people apply for them.

There is another way to get more $$… just apply and you will be surprised at what you get. As mentioned, i got at least one bursary and scholarship every single year i was in university, just by applying.

I for example only got $2500 (college) but asked to be re-assessed, and tehy uped it to $4000

too little too late, however, as it came midway through second sem year 1.

Year 2, no OSAP, as Daddy didn’t file tax return in time for them to evaluate the household standings…
