For those of you unhappy with the direction this site is moving along, what other infractions should there be? What do we need to enforce more heavily?
I will be adding a racism infraction and an infraction for posts with such poor spelling and grammar that we can barely read them.
What else?

People posting in forsale ad’s with stuff thats not going to help the sale.
If someone dosen’t like the price they dont need to post in the thread, basically if you don’t plan to buy it don’t post.
I constantly see threads where people are questioning the sellers price ect.
I can only imagine what that is doing to potential sales.

i agree with just karter actually, i’m pretty sick of all the bickering that goes on in the FS section… if something is really priced too high, the seller will realize it when it doesn’t sell! pretty straight forward if you ask me…
i don’t know how much i agree with the decision to administer infractions for horrible spelling/grammar.
half of the entertainment to be had on nyspeed comes from those with said horrible spelling/grammar.
a compromise i might propose to this new rule is allow the most horrendous spelling/grammar in all things/threads OT…or, in any other thread if the horrible spelling/grammar was horrible on purpose to make a point/be funny (while still staying on topic, obviously).
but if somebody is trying to sound smart/say something worthwhile, and genuinely sees nothing wrong with spelling every other word wrong, not using punctuation, spacing, caps, etc etc…which we all know usually results in a huge detour away from the initial purpose of the thread, then infractions should be given.

if we’re not going to allow price haggling and/or critique…and are going to say “you can ONLY post in this thread if you have serious intent to purchase” then what’s the point of the thread at all? i’ve seen other forums where the FS thread stays at the one, initial post…and then from there the only way to contact the seller is via PM’s or any other means of contact the seller posts in the thread that he/she can be reached at. so option 1 is to just lock every FS thread after the initial post is made by the seller.
if somebody is then concerned about buying from a total stranger, they have the right to post a brief thread asking if anybody’s had experience with said seller. or how about a sub-section for seller/buyer reviews? i’ve seen this on other forums as well…hell we might already have one and maybe i just don’t know it because it never gets used.
and finally…if we do not choose to go the route of locking threads after the first post, but expect people to only post when seriously interested in buying…and we’re going to administer infractions for critiquing price…then in fairness we’d have to disallow people from pointlessly bumping a thread, posting nothing more than “GLWS,” etc…because this is in no way showing that you’re seriously interested in buying the item.

how about an infraction for classifieds sniping ? if you have something to sell, make your own thread, dont but into someone elses thread and steal their sale with your similar item. the exception to the rule would this:
OP: i have a xyz tv for sale
poster one: i want it
OP: sold
poster 2: shit, i wanted it
poster 3: im selling mine thats just like it, pm me
poster 4: I have the same tv for sale I’d be willing to part with PM me price.

I think its fine the way it is… Shitting up forsale threads infraction is stupid. If someone acts like a cock sucker in Off topic then they deserve every little bit they get in a Forsale thread.
If someone is a pretty stand up dude and posts a forsale thread and poeple shit it up sure. then mod could clean it up.
I know if I post something forsale I know what my actions in Offtopic should bring upon my forsale thread.

maybe we can start handing out infractions for people not posting auto related topics/threads. then maybe we can give out infractions for poor jokes.
While we are infracting everyone maybe we can infract people on there poor choice of automobile or modifications. Oh, better yet, maybe we can give out infractions for not posting enough per day.
I also think people should be given infractions if there no posting from a dell computer.

I agree with this to a certain extent. For the most part, all the bullshit like “I heard you paid $xxxx amount for this and your selling for $xxxxx” deserves a infraction. But theres places and times when a sellers price could be questioned. In one example of many: a person selling an xbox 360 for $350, when you can get them new in some places now for $250. Sometimes people don’t know the going rate of certain items, and wont find out until someone politely points it out.

I honestly agree with leave well enough alone. There is a compromise to be had at the amount of members that a site of the size has. Not everyone is going to be intelligent (noobs 08’) and not everyone is going to follow all rules. It is the basis of the world. I haven’t witnessed any thing that is going to drive sponsors away, or drive new members away and aside from that who cares.

I think that the classifieds should have a 15-30 post count minimum. Nothing too ridiculous but something that limits people from joining just to off load their shit.
