Alright so I am in the process of removing my outer tie rod.
I have removed the cotter pin and the nut and I can not seem to get it to drop out.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on what to do. I’ve hammered on it and it still won’t come out and I don’t want to hammer much more in fears of bending things.
Yeah just get a good like 6 pound hammer, and whack away at the side of it and it will fall right out. At least thats how well it works on Dodges. If you have a decent sized hammer you should be able to get it out in a whack or two.
yeah you just dont want to damage the threads on the outer tie rod when banging it out … so keep the nut on so that there isnt any problems with putting it back on
aren’t you supposed to use a slpitter to take those out? at least thats how we got out my buddy’s axle when we changed his clutch, use the splitter on the tie rods to pull the axle out
