Re-read your own post. You said your stock 3/S pulled Corvettes. It WILL not pull C5s. Period. This is an accepted fact of the 3SI community for the last decade or so. A BPU 3/S is what is commonly needed for C5s.
101-103MPH vs 105-109MPH traps isn’t “extremely close”.
You can argue paper statistics all day Shawn. But when it comes down to eveything that happens in a race, I have pulled C5’s. Could be the driver, could be the car I don’t know.
Do you think I would be arguing against my own car if this wasn’t true? No. I am being serious. I have pulled MANY C5’s at the track and won many times. So you can argue traps or w/e all day but I know from experience
I dont understand… when you first got your c5 vette you came in here and talked about how faster it was than your vr4 in every aspect, but now you are saying that your vr4 pulled c5s.
Paper Statistics? In over 17 years not a single 3/S in bone stock form trapped equal or above what stock C5s AVERAGE.
Gearing/starting speed/RT/etc… all can give a car an ability to beat another from a roll that doesn’t trap as hard. But I nor 23094092309340949 members of 3SI see how it’s going to pull a C5.
Maybe you had a freak? But, your traps at LVD didn’t suggest that?
MY C5 is faster than my old VR4. I’m not saying that the VR4 in stock form is faster than a C5 spec for spec. What I am saying is that they are close enough where it comes down to the driver of the car. Otherwise why would I have beat them in the 1/4?
You are conflicting yourself. First, the VR-4 is faster when you drove it but now the C5 is faster? Pick one side and roll with it.
I’ll recap:
2G 3/S = 13.7-14.1 @ 100-103MPH
C5 = MID 13s @ 104-109 (A4/M6) with several people going lower and 12.9X
From a dig, it’s obvious why the 3/S might win.
From a roll, it’s close but a C5 WILL pull away. If it doesn’t, there’s obviously a reason: RT/Driver/Sick Car/etc… Like I said, you can beat a car that traps higher if you can get the jump or even based on gearing. But, fall behind (ie PULL) isn’t happening.
Not that it really matters but my fastest in the VR4 was 13.6.
Anyway, what i’m trying to say is diffferent than what your reading it as. I am saying that the two are close enough where I had the oppotunity to beat C5’s. Which I did. So you can argue numbers and logic all day but what I am saying is that I have beat, on numerous occasions, C5 Corvettes at the track with my VR4.
We are talking 100% bone stock here. Didn’t you have a mod or two? Regardless, the ET is quick not fast. That would be trap.
Explain to me how a lower trapping car can “pull” on a higher trapping car? Explain how you can move at 100MPH and move faster than someone moving 105MPH? I’m trying to understand that logic. It’s not as if you were ahead and slowly lost the lead. The term “pull” was used.
Sorry. My argument is that a stock VR4 can beat a stock C5 in the 1/4. In regards to the technicality of my using the term “pull”, you would be right. It would be very difficult if not impossible for a VR4 to “catch up” to a C5. However not hard at all to beat in the 1/4.
Ok so my OP is still relevant. I said that my old VR4 could pull on a stock C5. Of course by pull I meant beat in a 1/4. Irregardless of the driver and my technical error in word usage, my ideology behind the post still has value.
VW/Audi are made by family members of Nazi leaders that were convicted of war crimes. these family members are drunk off Hefeweizen, and use the remains of the German Aircraft shot down in WWII. thus the low quality and poor workmanship of the vehicles, which result in huge recalls for faulty brake light switches, and un-intented acceleration claims against the Audi 5000 in the 80’s
