Packers vs. Favre

I haven’t been 100% up to date but the shit I have read is embarressing for the Packers. Favre is an icon to them and he just gets dropped. Understandable that he wouldn’t come back to be #1 even though he WOULD be and that he would have to compete for it. But, to ask him not to show up and stay retired and all that is just insulting to a guy that is beloved.

I disagree. 100% entirely… The Packers are Green Bay’s team, not Brett Favres. One person doesn’t make a team and Brett Favre is putting the Packers in a position to cater to him. He needs to decide what he’s doing, all of this I’m done, I’m retiring, I don’t want to… think about what it does to the chemistry of the team. Brett Favre isn’t the only one wondering about his future, the whole team is, and the team needs to know who is going to leading that offense. There’s 11 people to an offense, 10 of them want to be/have wanted to be there, 1 of them have been uncertain. He’s been doing this for a few years now and I’m sure the front office is 100% fed-up with not knowing what to do and I’m sure the entire team isn’t happy about it either.

Cater to him? The legend of Green Bay (and he is) wants to come back. Typically, teams are thrilled to have HOF QBs still in their prime to want to play for them. :confused

While, I agree Packers are Green Bay’s team, I was just trying to illustrate how important he is to that team for many years.

There is NOTHING in the rule book where he cannot change his mind. He doesn’t have to make one final decision. A team should never be dependent on ONE person. I understand if Green Bay said someone else is #1 as he left but to make him feel unwanted or ask him not to show up is insulting.

To an extent, but how much loyalty is a team supposed to offer to a single player? Bernie Williams still wanted to be a Yankee, but the team had to make a decision that was the best for the team. In that case, there were more suitable players and decided to part ways with Williams. Since he was loyal to the Yankees, he retired and didn’t search for another team.

In this case, Favre is still capable of playing, but the team is fed-up with not knowing his future. If this was the 1st/2nd time, it wouldn’t be an issue. But it’s not… it’s the same thing year in and year out. Like I said, the team has shown Favre their loyalty, but there comes a point when the team needs to say enough is enough, and get a quarterback set-up for the future.

What Favre is doing is not fair to the team. I understand your perspective and I agree, thinks could’ve gone a different way but I feel the team has their hands tied. Favre feels he can come back at any time, but one person doesn’t make a team.

Bad comparison to use Bernie. Yankees would (assume) have him back and Bernie made the decision to stay retired.

Favre already said that he is searching for another team after feeling “unwanted” by the Packers. It’s not as if he said he didn’t want to come back to be a Packer. Basically, he wants to play football and they don’t want him so he asked for his release to go somewhere else. I fail to see the wrong?

Fair but he IS a member and still should be allowed to compete for the position. Football shouldn’t be about politics but the best person to play that position should play. Hint: It’s not Rodgers.

He can come back anytime. It happens all the time. Hell, he even has a contract. Packers are choosing to not allow a HOF QB and the guy who is beloved play.

The Packers have to move on, they have a very young team, Favre retired, they tell the kid he can play and now they have to take that back? If Favre could make up his mind this would have never happened. How many years in a row do they have to go through this is he staying or leaving shit? I tihnk its a good move by them. Having him in camp would be a huge distraction.

$20 MIL to stay home? :lol

Yea, I was wrong on this one? They are paying him more to not play than to play. :ponder

Yea, I heard that today lol

So he’s getting paid all that money to do absolutely fucking nothing and he’s bitching? WTF?

No

I guess I misunderstood then. I thought he was bitching about the Packers not wanting him back.

It turned into:

  1. I want to come back but Packers somehow don’t want one of the best QBs in the league
  2. OK, please trade me so I can trade
  3. Packers: No.
  4. OK, I am going to come back and compete for my job
  5. No. Here’s more money than you were making before

LOLZ.

I wish somebody would pay me for not working. I dont make enough actually working.
