Came across this on FA, pretty damn interesting stuff. Talk about originality points, but for the cost is it worth it? ehh
You still have only 4 gears, and a heavy ass auto tranny. Other than that, pretty cool.
When I first saw paddle-shifted, I assumed someone went to the extreme trouble to make a system with a set of motors that will shift your manual for you, and a fancy computer program to revmatch your downshifts, etc… Ah well, I guess they saved that one for me
I thought the same thing, when I read about the auto tranny, i thought it was kind of a waste dont you think? youre already going to the extreme why not go all out.
Youre right solarian that would have been the proper way to do this.
good luck with your project paddle
Hahaha, one day, one day. It’s not that high on my priority list, but I’ve seen a working one, and I get to talk to the people that designed it, so hopefully it’ll happen.
Despite the fact its automatically controlled, i think its still a really cool and original design and idea for the 240sx.
Points for originality, but Solarian, I’d buy one of those kits from you for sure.
That would be cool… if it was coupled with a Hollinger sequential tranny. 8)
But who wants to spend in upwards of $10,000 on a transmission.
yeah if you guys noticed:
However…
PCS tranny controller — $700
Wiring harness — $150
Paddle Shifter — $540
Grant Steering wheel — $276
Grant Adapter — $20
Twist Machine Adapter for Grant — $32
Switch Panel — $10
Low or Mild Auto tranny build — $200?
Trans cooler setup — $150
Oil Temp Gauge — $50
20+ hrs of labor — ???
Ridicule of peers for not just putting in a manual — ???
Total — $2128 US
thats quite the payment! I like how he worded it… “however”
You could almost toss in OSGiken internals into a 5spd casing for that much.
never been a fan of paddle shifting, its annoying when u wanna shift while coming out of a curve, i find its useless
I dont think it was about money it wa jsut about being uinque…its pretty cool i guess… seen it a long time ago
Alll that to make the car look like a ferrari? And it basically does the same to tranny as disconnecting the plug by airbox (line pressure). Wow, so amazing.
But… where are the lambo doors?
that sums this up nicely
That’s pretty cool…
not to jack the thread, but anyone up for electric s13?
yeah, who needs paddle shifting when you can have direct drive-back!
thats sick
