Lets say both just for prices
Well,
the reason why I asked is because we don’t paint aluminum rims, just steel…
Price for steel rims are $35-$40 per wheel.
I have some rust in my floor that’s going to need to be fixed, carpet is starting to show through, nothing major.
Can I get a ballpark figure?
Just for the knowledge of everyone else!!!
With regards to the painting !!
All you guys have to be specific because different paint jobs are a result of different pricing. Colors will not be the same price as a other colors!!! So dont expect a candy color paint job to be the price of a base coat clear coat paint job.
Now do they remove the following
doors
hood
trunk
lights
mirrors
door handles
windows
trim pieces
front bumper
rear bumper
etc…
What manufacturer of paint products do they use?
Do they wet sand the customers car after the clear coating(This gives it the glass look finish and feel)
What is the warranty your friends shop can offer to these potential customers against defects of the materials used, and workmanship
(Mistakes Happen)
I dont think your shop will use 100% metal !!! Very rare!!
they would have to have a lot of metal fabrication materials and would be very time consuming therefor the reason for the use of body filler!!!
Too all ppl if you guys are going to drive your car in the winter this is not a wise idea wait til the spring!! Fresh paint and salt dont get a long to well!!!
Very good points. Maybe Mike_T would like to answer a few of them for anyone who may be wondering?
also!
What kind of work has this shop done with fibreglass!!!
i.e. when dealing with some fibreglass kits you have to modify them for fitment purposes!!
Im just bringing all these points up so our son members/users don’t regret anything if they do use your service and also everyone I would take these points I made, and ask them at various other shops for your own customer satisfaction!!!
I know all this because iI’ve gone through this process many times so if you have anymore questions about bodywork/paint I might be able to help you out!
ontarioperformance knows all!
WOOOOOOO
the former competition has joined forces to take on this evil s13 that is lurking trying to corrupt our class!!!
Jspec knows all tooo!!!
I think he knows more!
um, okay keep it on topic guys.
sorry Phil!!
But anyways hopefully the author can answer the previous quastions!!
Thnx phil
See what university does to its students!!!
If by “following” you mean “previous questions” then okay…
These are some extremely valid points and questions…
First off, the quotes given reflect any stock paint colour. From Audi to Volvo. Custom colours are extra.
Second, when painting the car the bodymen remove the bumpers, trim, handles, winsheild (if necessary, ie. rust around the winsheild)…everything else is taped off.
Third, the paint used is RM, which is made by BASF. I have been assured that this is one of the premier paints, if not the best, available on the market. The only quality better than this is found in house of kolor, which is wayyyyy to overpriced. Wet sanding is also done as well.
Fourth, in terms of warranty, if there are any problems caused by the sanding, prepping, painting, and/or clearing processes, ie. premature paint chipping, paint defects, runs in clear coat, etc…they will be fixed free of charge…however, in my dealings with these guys, it’s very rare that a car comes out with defects.
Fifth, of course not all metal work involves 100% metal. Body filler must be used to a certain extent to regain the orginal curves, lines of the car. I was simply trying to explain that metal is used. Some shops tend to skip the metal work, which leads to reoccuring rust.
Hopefully that answers some of your questions. Please feel free to ask me anything else that may be unclear to you.

In terms of fiberglass work, I personally have had these guys install a body kit with fiberglass. The front 3/4 skin bumper and side skirts were molded on flawlessly.
These guys have been doing pain and body work for 20+ years, so they know their stuff.
Oh, and about getting stuff painted in the Winter, it isn’t exactly the best thing, but if you do it, I suggest rust proofing your car immediately after.
I have some rust in my floor that’s going to need to be fixed, carpet is starting to show through, nothing major.
Can I get a ballpark figure?
IM sent.
MikeT I approve!!! Good stuff well hopefully you guys do wonderful work!!
Well in regards to the RM paint!! Thats what I have on my car!! Excellent product and settles a lot better than other paint products like PPG!! Good stuff man I totally approve and I think I probably have one of the most vibrant paint job beside Iquabobs flat black custom hot rod paint
In regards to the all metal comment I just wanted to clarify to the members who arent familiar with bodywork, if you make a statement like that they might think that u guys are a metal fabricater as well 8)
Now with warranty although your guys Im sure are quite good mistakes do happen and everyone would most likely agree, thats why I brought it up. Rust proofing is a must but Im sure youll agree if your going to drive the car in the winter a fresh paint job will not be ideal because of how fragile the product is to weather conditions and surfaces!!!
Now to all the members if you guys are picking out factory colors some will be more expensive then others. Try and stay away from picking colors from Mercedez Benz and Bmw because you will pay a premier price for the product! This is due to licensing of the product !!
I.E. If you like the Benz AMG silver you can ask for it but Volkswagon has the same silver for half the price!!! Try and source out the paint color you want and see if another manufacturer has the same color, as a rule the company of car is owned by a higher end manufacturer and share the same color pallettes and this can help you save some money for a motor!!!
If anyone has more questions you can ask me if you want!!!
Ohh here is an example of the RM paint !! Its a candy color !!! and yes its MINE!!!
The new wheels are on order!! Relax 8)
Those wheels are okay, all you need is spacers…
Well I want something wider in the rear!!!
But neways to get back on topic
Hopefully the few bits of advice supplies on mainly pages 3,4 can help all of you guys out!!!
Just remember guys the more intricate the paint jobs the harder to touch up!!
If you guys are looking at custom colors suck as Candy colors, color flip, pearlescents, etc, Blending in a paint is not an option because the blended paint will stand out and will look fugly!! Ive seen it before!! As a rule you have to repaint the fender, bumper, etc…
Quick question perhaps someone can advise, my car is black and I want to go with a black with a deep purple pearl…now would anyone know what color this is? I’ve been told Amethyst but I’m unsure.
Almost Spring time!
