Painted my buddies Laser in my garage. Home-made booth.

Was going to post this in the “Post your garage” thread, but I’m important enough for my own :blue:

Sprayed with “Cayenne Red Pearl” or whatever the 2G Eclipse color was, and, obviously, black on the upper half. I really want to see what it looks like finished. The spoiler, mirrors, and the 16" OZ F1 wheels still have to go on.

Also, the white 1G is mine, and the orange 1G belongs to the guy spraying the car.

If anyone has any problems seeing the pics, let me know.

Is there anywhere I can host an album of full-sized pics? I have high-res stuff, but the Yahoo album resizes them.

does it run?

who is the owner of the oragne one?? whats his name??

They all do :finger:

Why do you think I had to take pics of my car and the orange one together? It might not happen again for a while :scared:

00BlackSS - His name is Dave.

ahh ok…i know a kid who used to have a burnt oragne 1g also…but i belive he sold it

Yea, my buddies car was originally that off-tan, off-gray color. They sprayed that in a real booth a few months back.

cool, nice work there

What all did you do other than the plastic and box fans to make your “booth.” At my buddy’s home shop where I do all my work we have a paint room we’ve done some hack-job spays in. But it’s basically just a seperate room of the shop w/ a single roll-up door (doesn’t seal that great… surely one thing we need to change), air plumbed throughout, and a single regular door to the rest of the shop. I’m thinking we need to rig up a fixture w/ a few big box fans or blowers (no, not Shag’s Mom) to put under the roll-up door then bring the door down and seal onto the fixture. We’ll need to seal all the rest of the seams of the door better, but this can be done pretty quick/easy w/ some tape/plastic every time we spray. I think it’ll be difficult to truely seal the door on a permanent basis that lets it roll up/down easily. What do you do about dust control etc.?

You can see the rest of the shop here: http://73-ls1.com/camaros_life.html and the '73 we’re building right now but there’s no pics of the booth. Like I said though, it’s really nothing special. I just want to know easy (and cheap) ways to make it a little better. Our results so far haven’t been bad really, but you can always do better.

What you see is what you get. We ran plastic everywhere, and taped every seam shut to get it as closed as possible. We cut holes for the fans, and taped the plastic to the fans. We used filters on the back of the blower fans to keep bugs out.

Dust wasn’t an issue. No sanding was done in the garage, and for any excess, we sprayed it out using the air hose and then layed a thin layer of water around the car to trap any dust that may have fallen around it.

Any other questions, feel free to ask. It’s late and I’m tired, so my answer might not be complete.

Later,

I cant wait to see that thing finished!

i love 1st gens…
