sooo…spanking your kid is one things. beating the kid with belts, spoons, what ever thats just abuse. ever kid deserves a good sore spot on there ass if they mess up. but you cant get out of hand with it. i mean shit everyones going to have there own opinions about this. and really no one will win lol

agreed, you shouldn’t beat your children… but a smack on the ass with a spoon when I was misbehaving as a kid definitely got my attention (and I listened). Edit: However, my parents neighbors a few doors down NEVER used to discipline their children because it was “wrong”… they’d “ask them” to stop doing whatever it was they were doing.
The kid was just recently arrested for drug possession (intent to distribute) and previously beat his mom up which he was also arrested for… great kid
This is one of those slippery slope issues. Like AWDdrifter said, where is the fine line between discipline and abuse? both physical and emotional
How long before it’s outlawed to yell at your kid because it’s “hurting” them?

my father kicked my ass a few times and i thank him for it. it should be up to the parents whether they can spank their kids or not. now if they hit the kids then they should be beaten 10 times harder
The problem is that too many people who are having kids are too f***ing stupid and should not have kids in the first place, they should be sterilized so they can’t spread the 25 chromosome (its the Dumbass Chromosome)
kids are kids, you need to get their attention with out breaking them.
if they break, then you have to take them to get fixed, and the hospitals ask questions.
my parents never really hit me… i got more of the yelling/screaming.
its tough, not all parents are capable of dealing with the stress created by kids and take the easy way out to shut them up… weather its beating them, or just giving them anything the want.

I guess whether it’s a little whack on the ass or a stern voice, you just have to maintain dominance. As opposed to “asking” them to stop, which gives them the dominant power of choosing.
