To what LZ said, I knew some friends who made bank bar tending… Some still do as their major serves an unemployed position… (teaching to name one)
Main street in Clarence?
My cousin used to bartend and for the longest time never visited an ATM because he always carried cash. There is potential to make some good loot bartending.
Airport Taxi: loaded cabs at the airport, mostly killed time reading books, met some people, occasionally froze my ass off outside. $8/hr but the tips were nice, I probably made $50-$100 per 8 hour shift outside.
Niagara Airbus: sat at the info desk inside by the baggage claim, much slower pace, gathered up some passengers and loaded them onto a bus once every 2 hours.
Internship at JW Danforth while in engineering school, $12/hr, didn’t enjoy it, but resume and experience builder.
Internship at Delphi in Lockport while in engineering school, $17/hr. My contract (and all other interns as well) was ended 3 weeks early (right around Christmas) to save the company money.
AllPro Parking, I was a valet with them at all the local hospitals. I made like $8/hr and some tips, but the tip structure was retarded since all tips were collected into a jar, and then split evenly among all the employees on shift that day. Too bad most of them were lazy ghetto degenerates
who mostly chain smoked in the parking lot and hung out in peoples’ cars most of the time. I drove some cool cars and some real pieces of shit.
Northtown Automotive as a Shuttle Driver. This was probably my favorite. Spend 8 hours driving around, talking to people, seeing the city, and killing time waiting for pickups. I would consider doing this again since it was so relaxing.
Sears shoe sales. Commission, but seasonal $8 normally with highs around $15 for back to school, Christmas and spring time (from what I was told the pay structure changed, but this was in HS)
RadioShack. Commission but around $10
US Security. Job dependant but $8 to $15. Posted at the Art Gallery mostly
Camp Counselor Circle C Ranch. Not a lot $.
Then during grad school called on car dealers and sold F&I products. Commission
I don’t know why anyone would tip the cab guy at the Buffalo airport…
These is 30 cabs waiting and the guy moves your luggage 10 feet if at all :tif:
Worked 25-30hrs a week at a pizza shop delivering for $7.50/hr. Tips are nice that way you have beer money for every night you work.

worked summers at woodstream nurseries in clarence for probably between $10-$15/hour depending on the year. usually worked 50ish hours a week for the first half of the summer then 4 10 hour days for the rest of the summer…i could usually make enough to get me through the year at college for the first couple of years.
then i started working night shift first as a grocery clerk, then as a security guard. the grocery clerk gig was horrible for the pay, the security guard job was great. working nights with a full class schedule and drinking schedule was a challenge though.
My job was to load multiple 40-50lb bags in the trunk, open the door for the customer, provide info about fares/etc. The cab drivers are lazy as shit and usually never even got out of the car.
You’re complaining he made tips from loading luggage for people?
This is Buffalo…The majority of people don’t take cabs to and from the airport here most people who use the cabs are business people with very little luggage.
Buffalo isn’t a destination spot for travel
A lot of other airports in the US have people who coordinate which taxi you take but don’t load your luggage was more of point.
I was really surprised to hear this position makes tips around here…I tip the people who drive the long/short term parking shuttle but the taxi guy at the Buffalo airport provides 0 service.
CIT Help Desk at UB… consultant and later supervisor
i bought, fixed and sold civics/integras $ usually around 500-1000 profit per car
worked for Home depot traveling the east coast setting up new displays at several stores each night $18 hour + free hotels +100 day for food/gas… this was mostly a summer job
worked at the beer store off campus $8 /hour but bought beer at cost and i was able to do my homework 99% of the time to keep busy
I was on the GI Bill, and other funding which paid my way through college so I could truly focus on drinking.
Yup.
This x100!!!
Worked at Springville Mfg. Co., Inc. for $4/hour about 15 hours per week, full time summers.
I made deliveries and operated a super loud and dangerous saw.
Now 26 years later I make almost twice that!
I did the pizza gig too. Driver/manager/food prep did it all at one time or another. When I left I was making 8$ an hour, $.50 per delivery and tips. It was really good money for what it was. Plenty of nights of over $100 in tips and 50-60 deliveries.
