So i have a greddy emanage ultimate and it will be set up to tune off of a map sensor.
but i have read that idle and part throttle are hard to control with a piggy, and I see these “black boxes” like Split Second and other home-brews that are used.
Does that force the stock ecu into open loop sooner?
And is it needed?
Found this on the intertubes:
The e-manage Ultimate and e-manage Blue can tune WOT and partial throttle, when you are tuning you have to watch fuel trims to have it done properly. I bought the black box and just have it sitting here, it does NOTHING the e-manage Ultimate and Blue can’t do out of the box.
When tuning partial throttle you need to monitor the short term fuel trims and make sure it never exceeds 10%, that’s when it starts modifying long term fuel trims. When it modifies long term fuel trims beyond a certain percentage (15% I believe) it will throw a CEL saying the system is too rich or too lean. A nice little system I came up with for tuning the e-Manage Ultimate under partial throttle is to use an OBDII scan tool to monitor the fuel trims and do several partial throttle boost transitions, and make modifications slowly. Keep in mind the last thing you want to be doing is altering the MAF sensor table… if you are running a larger intake system doing modifications to this table is absolutely necessary but keep changes to a minimum. The first thing you want to nail down is the injector pulse width to add and remove fuel as needed… if you are experiencing problems with smooth transition you’ll need to start messing with the timing. Partial throttle is a finely tuned beast from the factory, so a nice methodilical approach is needed when modifying it. For me personally I found I was having to pull several degrees of timing during partial throttle with small modifications to the injector pulse width.
So if that’s true, sounds like the ultimate can tune part throttle, i just need to find a good tuner.

I used the aem f/ic as my piggyback. Works great partial throttle… Dezod did the original tune, and since then I’ve fine-tuned and added water-meth
Unfortunately, FIC was not going to work for my setup.
So can anyone confirm/deny that the emanage ultimate can tune part throttle?
