Pass inspection without third brake light?

Hey guys, think I would get shit for not having my third brake light on the trunk? I realize it’s a safety thing, so don’t chew me out. Still, I may have something coming which would take its spot. :ninja

What would be going on isn’t easily removed so thought I’d check here. Pic for reference:

as long as there is a third brake light, i dont think it matters where it is.

i’m pretty sure you would fail inspection w/o one

I had tint over my 3rd brake light in my Civic - did not pass inspection. If the item you are replacing it with is fiberglass Big_Red may be able to rework it so it can include the third brake light.

if you shave it, its sorta fine. Most places wont care. BUT If the model was equipped with it from the factory, regardless of how well it was shaved it should be working.

If its still there but painted, ghetto covered or not functional, it should fail because its an item thats supposed to work. Same as a headlight, tail light or turn signal out.

Its a visual inspection item. Just take it to a “trusted” shop for inspections. The one in my Dad’s 190e works sometimes, hes never been stopped for it in 10 years.

looks better than stock. i say do it and just find a shop that’ll pass you. if you visit 10 shops i’m sure at least one will pass it

Or, get this http://www.meritline.com/car-logo-light-auto-emblem-led-light-honda-red---p-74345.aspx and replace the trunk emblem and wire to brake circuit. :rofl

I know with early to mid 90’s cars you don’t need one, not sure about your car though.

Everything from 85 up needs one , no law sayin ya can’t relocate it to another visable spot until insp is done
