Passport for Canada?

The Girlfriend wants to go to Niagara falls, canadian side, and I think you need a passport. It like happened recently or something. I remember hearing about it. Its not clear on any of the sites i looked at.

Thanks.

In Jan. it is supposed to take effect.

So we can still go with ID and Birth Cert right?

Should be, check their website.

just ID

Sweet, Thanks guys.

damn it, this reminds me that I still need to get mine before it’s too late.

I was in toronto yesterday…
Id Only

Im in Toronto now, and 20 hrs ago i didnt need anything to get across other than id and $3.50 cdn…

depends on who u get at the boarder… tuesday night going to casino me and 4 friends in my car. i had a passport but my 4 friends had their dl’s only and were told they were lucky they were being let over into canada without birth certs

i never had a problem getting over without my birth certificate and i have gone over a lot

we didnt even get ID’ed going over for track day, but thats just one car …

Yeah it really depends where and when you go over…

I have crossed near Watertown a couple of times in the past month or so, first time it was ID only and I was pretty much told I needed at least a copy of my BC…they pulled me over and searched my car (thankfully I’m not evolve) and then let me go…next time I brought both forms of ID and had no issue…

Though I have never had any problems with ID only at the various WNY crossings it is not a bad idea to have a copy of your BC with you to make things easier

Latest word is passport isnt needed till 2009
unless you’re flying in or out of canada

^^ its apparently as early as 2008
