Crossing the Border w/o a passport? possible?

Ugh, I lost my Passport, or atleast misplaced the damn thing… and I’d really like to go to Canada tonight…

Has anyone crossed the Border in the past month or 2 with just an ID card and birth certificate?

I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to as of the first of the year. I’ve heard a couple of stories about them letting you through without it because the policy is so new, but I wouldn’t count on that. Get one of those enhanced licenses, they’re good for ten years and they work at both the Canadian border and Mexican, apparently.

I went across the border with just my license last month when I was in Buffalo visiting. They hassled me with my AZ license but didn’t stop me.

They can hassle you but can’t prevent you from entering the US.

Really? I thought they could stop anyone from entering.

They can’t prevent a US citizen entry…they can however make it a huge fucking hassle.

This is what I have heard from people who have crossed with out a passport and people who work there…I know members of the forum have connections there if they have heard other wise feel free to speak up.

I really want to head up to the drift event tonight, but I can’t find my fucking passport anywhere…

I do have my driver ID and a copy of my birth certificate… I jiust dont want to get turned away when I get to the border

go to the post office, grab a passport application, tear off the front page and bring it with you, tell them you’re getting it processed now you just haven’t gotten the old one back yet. grab the blue one, not the yellow one. say you’re getting it renewed and haven’t gotten it back yet. the post office on cayuga near the airport is open late tonight.

When I crossed earlier this summer they gave me a “verbal” warning. Which involved the guy at the border telling me that I should prolly get a passport or ID and then gave me a brochure on how to do it all lol

When I crossed a few weeks ago I had my passport with me and neither side asked me for it.

I wouldnt risk it as being stopped at the border for a few hours probably isnt fun.
