Paving Contractors

Anyone recommend a reputable blacktop paving contractor for a pretty good sized driveway? Not looking for the cheapest, but don’t need my anus enlarged any further than it already is either. Thanks.

I got a fairly good price from Capozzi for blacktop. My parents used Gauthier at their last house. And another guy I know in EA just went with Ballous.

Of course if you want to support Forum people…PM FourEyed

Can’t help you with the paving contractors, but can help you enlarge your anus. PM for details.

What area? I know of a few.

Evans / Hamburg border.

Lmfao

Now there’s a sign of a really good guy.

In that area try Palmieri paving. I don’t know him personally but I see his trucks everywhere.

Thanks. I had not heard good things about him previously but maybe things have changed.

PM’d FourEyed about some concrete work earlier, never responded.

Did you ever have any luck finding a good company? Looking to do so new blacktop for our third car garage addition would love some input.

I honestly looked through my PM’s and don’t have any from you… If I just missed it or something I apologize. I usually do my best to get back to people. I know about a month ago I had a voicemail issue with my phone a couple months ago, but other than that I follow up.

I can give decent numbers with concrete, but honestly with asphalt, we are a union shop, and although the guys can do work on the side like that, we usually aren’t too competitive unless it is a big parking lot or something.

No problem. The house ended up selling with the approach as it is so no big deal. I understand about the paving. It’s a good sized driveway but no parking lot…at least not yet. I did get Ballou to come out and give me an estimate, but of all the requests I sent out, they were the only one to respond thus far. I’m going to wait another week or so and assume that everyone was busy with the summer work and call a couple more people. If they don’t respond…to hell with them. I’ll let everyone know how this shakes out. In the meantime, anyone with recommendations are still welcome.

Not sure if our contractor will go down there, but we used Bedford. Holy shit responsive, timely, on budget. Absolutely top notch experience.
That 1/8th mile, surface-of-the-moon driveway that you had the misfortune of driving the Z on…yeah, rockhounded down about 4", rolled, then 4 triple-axle loads of crushed stone, rolled again, for $2k.

Also…back to you shortly on our project. Right now, we’re likely doing it all other than windows. Need to roll those into next year’s budget. We’ll talk tomorrow.

They are ~60 miles away, will have to give them a call and find out.
For that $2k what was the size or sq ft of the driveway?

Thanks for all your input. No one I contacted besides Ballou responded and something in the back of my mind got me thinking that I should start running the numbers on concrete. With most of the major components accounted for, I ended up figuring that concrete would be almost as expensive as blacktop so it was a no brainer. With a little help from another member, I got the finishing crew lined up and I hope to start laying the forms and such in the next couple weeks.
