11.3 What happens when a buyer files a Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal?
PayPal will place a temporary hold on the funds in your account to cover the full amount of the Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal. If PayPal determines that the payment is covered by seller protection, we will release the hold and restore your access to the funds.
If the payment is not eligible for seller protection, PayPal will remove the funds from your account and return the payment to the buyer. In addition, you will be responsible for PayPal’s Chargeback Fee, if applicable.[/quote]
that is the buyer doing that to you, not paypal, i have had no problems telling people that i will not ship the item until the money CLEARS aka “completed” into my paypal funds. One guy even sent me a money order from oakland i think, it took a week to get here, he had no problem waiting.
it seems you are just dealing with fggts
in my case it is paypal doing it, trust me
its not a pending e-check
the payment from the buyer was “instant transfer”
paypal seems to think after 9yrs and 337 transactions with them I maybe up to something shady regarding a ebayer with 8 feedback and 1yr with paypal
I am getting my money and canceling my account the next day
This isnt my first complaint about paypal but its my last
"Why are my payments being held?
Payment holds for eBay items are an effort to increase marketplace safety. We hold payments when we suspect a transaction may be risky. Here are the most common instances in which an eBay item payment may be held:
You have been an eBay member for less than 6 months, and you sell an item for more than $100
You have an eBay feedback score of less than 100, and you sell an item for more than $100
You have a buyer dissatisfaction percentage* greater than 5%
You have an average DSR of less than 4.5
You have received fewer than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings in the last 12 months
You are listing your item in a high-risk category such as gift certificates, video games, cell phones, computers, or consumer electronics. "
:gotme: i am under ALL of those things, and paypal has never held my money
nor have they mine, its a new year however and this was my first transaction over $100
paypal changes their rules on a regular basis, I am assuming something changed on 1/1/09 however I am not inclined enough to even look it up
personally its insulting that a company I have done business with for almost a decade treats me like I am a fucking scammer or something
are u a premiere/ business user? if you go over your 500$ limit per month on ur basic account (starting on the anniversary of when u activated ur account), they will hold ur money until u either upgrade or the month ends
I am not sure when all of the new rules came into effect, but I pushed over 5k through my paypal this year and never had a hold.
nice guess try again- I am premiere
trust me when I say I did nothing wrong
then… call them?
hahahahahahaha :roflpicard:
I guess you have never called them before
its fucking worthless
this is on the selling template page now-

heres the info on eBay forcing sellers to use paypal services-
eBay wants to help ensure that the marketplace offers buyers safer online payment choices.
Enforcement grace period for sellers: Starting October 20, 2008 only permitted payment methods will be displayed in the payment details section of listings. Sellers will need to remove all references to non-permitted payment methods from item descriptions. We know that this is a busy time of year for sellers, so to allow sufficient time to change templates, we will wait until January 15, 2009 before we begin taking action against sellers soliciting non-permitted payment methods within the item description of listings.

Sellers may not solicit:
Buyers to mail cash.
Buyers to send cash or money orders through instant cash transfer services (non-bank, point-to-point cash transfers) such as Western Union or MoneyGram.
Buyers to mail checks or money orders (except for items in categories specifically permitted above)
Payment through bank-to-bank transfers (except for items in categories specifically permitted above)
Payment through “topping off” of a seller’s pre-paid credit or debit card.
Payment through online payment methods not specifically permitted in this policy.
Payment through payment methods not listed in this policy.
Misleading & Discouraging Payments
Sellers must clearly state the payment methods that they accept and may not include generalized statements soliciting buyers to contact them for additional payment methods.
Sellers who state in their listing that they accept certain payment methods must not selectively offer those payment methods to buyers or discourage buyers from using those payment methods.
This means that sellers must always accept payment from buyers through the payment methods they have selected in their Payment Details section of their listing, including PayPal, and must not act in any way to discourage buyers from paying by these methods.
This policy is not only limited to communications made in listings, but also includes all correspondence between a seller and buyer that relates to an eBay transaction.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions including:
Listing cancellation
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Limits on account privileges
Loss of PowerSeller status
Account suspension
I accidentally eBay Then PayPal. The whole thing.
UPDATE-
my money is still being held despite the fact my tracking # states the item was delivered days ago…
shoulda used cash2india
looks like I wont be selling anything on ebay now
X2, only for little things.
I just sold something for $200 and got the money from paypal within a couple days… I don’t see what the big deal is.
Update-
well paypals website was telling me the hold would be released Feb 3rd
The package (tracked on usps.com) has been delivered 3 days
So I called paypal and spent 20 mins on the phone with someone who speaks English as a 4th language
I got the hold released
Now I will withdraw my $$$ and close the account, fuck you paypal
don’t even get me started with paypal policies… it’s a necessary evil with eBay and a borderline monopoly. Almost $2,000 in paypal fees for this past month alone.
that sucks man
I WILL NOT sell anything on ebay ever again, due to paypal.
it’s a great tool as a buyer, but as a seller it’s not only frustrating, but it’s also un-necessary to make you jump through all those hoops (especially if you’re verified)
