pittsburgh penguins have signed big defenceman eric cairns

http://pittsburghpenguins.com/team/press/arts/1606.0.php

and a big shock ziggy palffy retires from the NHL

http://pittsburghpenguins.com/team/features/arts/1605.0.php

Fleury’s also here to stay for the rest of the year.

yay,hope they step it up!

yea im guessin thats what there gonna do with the rest of palffy’s contract.just use it to pay fleury’s incentive

now if recci and lecair leave we can get rid of an entire geriatric line

Palffy retired so he didnt have to play on a shitbox team.

I’m sure he’ll be back in LA or some other team this year that auctally has a shot at the Cup this year

Wow… Eric Cairns…umm hah he’s a waste!

23 games played, ZERO goals, 1(ONE) assist, +1, 37 PIM’s and 11 SOG’s

Wow…uhhh complete waste, shoulda saved that draft pick

Cairns last year…

72 games played, 2 goals, 6 assists, 8 points, -5, 189 PIM’s, 24 SOG’s

This is now his FOURTH team in his NINE yrs in the league…

im guessin we got cairns for defence, hitting and to protect crosby

yeah i can see that, but with refs now really cracking down on penaltys this pick up could auctally hurt us on the PK :ugh:

** note we are dead last in the NHL and the Eastern Conf. w/ a 78.4% on the PK

not if he hits guys legally

Legally? lol tray…its eric cairns, he’s a dirty player

Cairns in his CAREER ( NINE Years) :

429 Games Played
9 Goals
32 Assists
-45 +/- Rating
1,090 PIM’s ( Average is 121 PIM’s a year)
3 SHA
1 GWG
212 SOG
42% Shooting %

Still think he’s good and will hit legally?

carins is there to drop the gloves period. he plays D like Ulf did in the early 90’s if you try to screen his goalie he is goin to punch you in the mouth period.

at least he might light a fire under the team.

PS- Ziggy is worth 10 million over the rest of his contract so the pens have a good amount of cash to work with.

i agree with sam

STI, you have successfully posted some of the most ridiculous hockey statements ive seen in awhile…congrats.

Palffy is getting payed around 5 mil for each ofthe next three years and hasn’t lived up to his potential (probably due to said shoulder injury), (sarcasm)so obviously he’s gonna retire from the pens and not make that money then re-appear in the league for a playoff contender later  (/sarcasm)

as for cairns, why even try to argue it was a bad pickup and show his scoring stats??? thats not why we got him. dunno if u noticed but we have no tough guys and have been getting pushed around by every team. Crosby is getting raped every game and guys like Malone, Armstrong and Talbot are the guys that have been trying to defend the team,… but they shouldnt be the ones doing that. also, who hits anyone consistantly on defense for us besides the injured Orpik? noone. Malone and Armstrong hit more people in 1 game than our whole defense combined throughout a week. hopefully Cairns will add to that. as far as penaltys, hes gonna be in the box , but at the same time id rather have him in there instead of our skill players in there since they have to fight for themselves. hopefully Cairns’ presence on the ice will have Crosby retaliating less and keep him out of the box. ill take the trade-off of Cairns in the box if it keeps one of our best players (and most penalized at the moment) out of the box.

Palffy cant come back in the league on another team …unless he waits til his contract here runs out …If he comes out of retirement he has to come back to the penguins

Heres the reason we got Cairns

haha exactly…sti u have no clue. u think u can just say u r gonna retire and then resurface at the end of the season on a playoff team? lol

nick, that article pretty much sums up what i was tryin to say about Cairns, but more clearly…haha.

ok maybe not a playoff contender at the end of the season, whatever, he’ll be back in the nhl, just not for the pens

ok great, we got a guy to protect Sid so what? :gives: he’s a worthless defender, just like Sergei Gonchar.

if he has to come back to the penguins, how could playoffs even be an option?
