Such a pain in the ass ordering parts. I like ordering from RevZilla as they get the parts to you in 1-2 days max. I rather order everything from there but of course they don’t have brake pads.
A local AMA Pro rider has been helping me out with some stuff; Bart DeRosa, good dude. He recommended Galfer or Goodridge but saying something about ordering the kit that doesn’t have a “splitter” in it? There’s two kits available, one has two lines that comes off the master and the GP style has one, not sure if this really matters for what I’d be using it for.
Ended up ordering those EBC HH front pads. Waiting to confirm lines now and I’ll be sending an order out for those and Vortex chain/sprocket kit.
Anyone recommend a local radiator shop? I have a pinhole in mine and won’t be able to get a new one in on time as it would be shipping out from the WC.
My Goodridge lines have been solid for 10k+ miles now. Threw some fresh fluid in there before my track day in July and they did a great job. Like I said, I was real conservative with my braking for the most part and tried to give myself plenty of time to execute turn-in. You’ll most likely spend most of your time in 2nd gear (on a 600cc) at TMP with the exception of the longer straights. So I did a good share of engine braking as well.
edit- I forgot to mention with my Goodridge lines, I had to shave down part of the brake lever as it couldn’t completely snap back which left the brake switch open. Not sure if you’ll have the same experience but just something to look out for if your brake light appears to be stuck “on” after install.
Ya my practice with the brakes will be while breaking the tires in as well lol. I may rip it around before I get out there. Track days on bikes better be worth it after all the coin I spent, hopefully it’s as fun if not funner than a car.
My buddy will be packing a ton of stuff, we load up his impreza wagon with everything so if there’s anything you think you’ll need but not sure you can bring, let me know.
I was going to pick up one of those 10x10 canopies as well.
Picking my forks, wheels and oil up tomorrow, got my radiator parched up today. Now just waiting on pads, sprocket and chain and I should be good to go.
I may bring my spare set. I have a one piece and two piece but the two piece needs to have a zipper sewed on so it can be zipped together. Not sure how tall some of you guys are (I’m 5’9" ~155-ish) but if I can get that done before next weekend you guys are more than welcome to try it out.
Had some assistance tonight by a handsome devil at the shop. Forks and radiator are back on! Just waiting on some brake parts to get it all back together.
Only one set of pads came in, the other is being shipped from Cali so I’m going to run what’s on there. A couple of us are leaving NF at 8am Saturday morning. @livin4hockey any updates with you guys?
Go easy in the opening session… Tracks are slick when is cold. No sense in crashing early to ruin a potentially awesome day! As the sun rises it gets a lot stickier… As do the tires.
