Good point, did some research on riding in cooler weather. I like to get a couple good warm up laps in regardless to just get the tires feeling good. Bike’s loaded and ready to go!
Had an awesome day today! Bike felt awesome although it needs to come back apart. Fork seals are leaking even though I just put new ones in (going OEM this time) and it’s getting some blow by, oil out of the exhaust. I’m speculating that it’s because it sat for 4 years and may be the valve stem seals, so it looks like I’ll have something to do on it over winter. Got 4 or 5 sessions in, cold weather and my first time at the track and I checked off a 1:28 once I bumped up to the intermediate class since I was stuck in traffic in the Novice, there’s a couple-few more seconds that can come off of this as well where I need improvements… Can’t wait for next season! Sweeeeet… I miss this!
It was also my first time riding a sports bike since the beginning of the season and my first time on that bike lol. Mike did awesome and so did his buddies. Can’t wait for more of this.
Looks awesome. I think I’m going to need to set aside some money for a dedicated 600.
Definitely had an awesome time! 2nd track day for me, finally got a knee down for the first time and started getting a little more practice at it by the end of the day. I was definitely in the 1:40s for lap times, didn’t want to push it as hard with the cooler temps compared to when I went in July. It was also nice to practice my lines a bit more and body positioning. Gennaro was killing it on the R6, hopefully I’ll have a little video uploaded later. I wish I could have kept up with him, hopefully next time now that I got little confidence from this session.
I was just messing around with the video since it was a warm up lap(s). I can help you out some, at least give the advice that works best for me at my level. Can’t wait for more of these, Ill be doing a Mid-Ohio trip, or a couple if I like it next season for whoever is interested.
So here’s a couple warm up laps of Gennaro before I lag far far behind lol. Just after 3:30 you can see my rear tire slips out just before the close of the 2nd lap and scared the shit out of me lol. I didn’t really push it too hard just because I was unsure of how much traction I would get. All in all though I’m still happy with how everything went.

Yeah the beginner group for this day was larger than when I went in July. I didn’t have to battle nearly as much traffic last time. I think if I can get a solid day of riding next season in warmer temps, with the knowledge I’ve gained from these past two days, I could move into Intermediate by the end of my next track day. There were just too many guys who wouldn’t want to lean at all. A few guys in beginner I also felt probably belonged in intermediate with you but they probably didn’t think to ask.
Cool stuff, I knew that TMP had bikes out there but I’ve never seen them. Anyone take a tumble?
No wrecks fortunately that day. In July I saw two guys go down, one of which was a Ducati 899 Panigale that had just broken in the motor. Felt terrible for the guy, his bike was toast. The other guy had a small mishap on grass and was back out after a clip-on swap out and peg replacement.
