Personal training spa what would you do?

Lets say you owned a one on one personal training facility. You train people one on one privately, it’s a little more pricey than most places (I think) but high end equipment and private settings. You gotta get the word out and get people in the door but it’s a start up business, how would you market/advertise/get people in the door? A friend of mine has an opportunity to get in on something like this and we were talking about it with much debate. So I told him I would ask NYspeed, there’s alot of bright people here and if nothing it would be funny to see what kind of ideas people come up with. GO!

Website x10

time warner cable advertising duh!

the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results and outcomes!

make sure they are marketing to people that can afford it.

Advertise EVERYWHERE. Search for websites directly related to spa’s in your area and make a few posts in forums/business sections regarding the place would be my first step, that’ll get you into the picture.

so basically this isnt the place

but i would go for the country club market… not sure how but thats where the fat old rich people hangout

what ever it is you gotta make it reasonable for someone to budget with this ‘economy.’ You wont well personal training to anyone if they have to decide between that or putting food on the table…

Dress like a banana and stand out in front of the place waving to cars. I know that always gets my attention.

so this is a training facility, for up and coming spa workers?

MARKET TO COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES!!

Market the unique features such as wheat-grass and ground walnut shell colonics, prune puree deep tissue massage, and the extensive use of titanium weights (they look bigger than their equal mass counterparts).

But seriously identify your target audience.

Print out overly elegant looking flyers and bring them to targeted neighborhoods like spaulding lake, via del sole, etc. Used to do that with a restuarant I managed and it worked pretty well, if you find the right neighboorhood for your business.

This is the best answer thus far. Why didn’t any of you guys say this :stuck_out_tongue:

I miss you John

These are all pretty good ideas. Thanks for the input fellas

Not sure what the target market here is. People too insecure to use a public personal trainer, but would they be secure enough for that sort of uncomfortable one-on-one attention? Horny upper class housewives? Those with injuries who need that level of attention?

I’d say market to the upper class. Those who are confident enough to be OK with that level of personal attention, and vain enough to think that they deserve nothing but the best. Someone who will get them in shape while they answer emails on their blackberry.

Disclaimer: I have no qualifications for giving this kind of advice. Just thinking out loud. :stuck_out_tongue:

Target market would be anyone who could afford it lol. It would be located in the east amherst area.

Fry, no qualifications needed, just wondering what others think  Thanks for the input.

Ok, so where would one find the horny upper class housewives so that you could pitch it to them lol???

What’s a good method of reaching out to these peoples.

Well, you ARE working in a suitable environment right now… Just sayin’

On a serious note, the best time to talk to people about personal training is by giving them a hand while they are working out, and suggesting methods, styles, etc… If they seem to enjoy the advice they are given, then the next steps can be taken to further complete their “goals”, i.e. Personal Training

Really you think so? I would think that if I was working out and someone was trying to pitch me something I would get angry…
