Hey guys, I’m super nerding it up again, and when trying to install a plugin to wordpress, I’m running into some errors. Frankly, I haven’t learned enough yet to troubleshoot. If no one answers here, fine, I’ll just figure it out eventually.

Anyways, these are the error lines I’m getting. Any help would be appreciated. Do I need to CHMOD everything to 755 or something?

is_excutable() checks to see if the web server can execute the file specificed. Set it to 755 and follow the install directions. They tell you the folders/files that need to be setup right.

it would look to me like you have an environmental variable set wrong, but I have no experience with any of this, just basing that off of the error message

That’s what I was thinking… I went around to practically everything and set it to 755 with no luck :frowning:

I’m hosting through precisioneffect, perhaps they just don’t allow their users access to the files i need to edit?

There is a file with allowed paths…you just need to add those other locations.

from the looks of things, you need to add /usr/bin/php to the path variable. word or like formula said, the path file

Can you edit php.ini?

setting open_basedir to “.” would work but that is ghetto.

Its not a permissions problem…

Those programs are only allowed to run from certain locations.

If you can’t edit php.ini or httpd.conf I don’t know where open_basedir is set I assume php.ini…Just get the admin to add those other paths.

When viewing dynamic pages, I see the following error: Warning: main(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/full/path/to/cgi-bin/movabletype/php/mt.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/full/path/to/tmp) in /full/path/to/blog/mtview.php on line 2
Answer

This error indicates that your host has enabled the PHP open_base_dir setting on your server. Your host needs to add your Movable Type installation folder to the allowed paths for this setting (i.e., add the file path referenced in the error as “not within the allowed path”).

The open_base_dir setting is primarily used to prevent php scripts for a particular user from accessing files in another user’s account. So usually, any files in your own account should be readable by your own scripts.

Thanks for all the help. I don’t think my hosting allows me to manually adjust those settings, so I emailed their support for help ( precision effect ). I pretty much C+P’d the relevant parts of these posts, so hopefully he won’t think I’m an imbecile.

just install it through cpanel with fantastico. thats what all my hosting clients do who don’t know what they are doing =)
