sigh
I went with the S2000 because it felt like a go-kart. I’m also 5’11" 250… I’m a wide guy and I didn’t have “problems” getting in and out of my car.
Felt like a go-kart means a couple things:
Handled like a go cart. Precision, light, tight handling. You could really feel everything that is going on with the car.
Stark interior like a go cart. It’s very driver centric, looks like a cockpit, but there’s really very little else. That’s ok for me though.
Suspension is like a go cart. I dodge ants whenever I can…
A 350z is larger, has a much different planted feeling, and has a lot more oomf when you’re driving it. I would go as far to say as it is easier to “drive better” than a very temperamental S2000.
As DDs, both are fine, I mean you are giving up practicality of course, but it was worth it.
I dunno, personal preference, I liked revving to 9K, I like the shifter of the s2000 (IMHO, probably the best feeling one ever…), I liked the dartiness, and I guess the most important thing : drop top on a cool summer night.
I love driving around with the heat on your feet and it gets sucked up over your body. People think you are crazy when you have the top down on a cool night.
i cnt wait to be driving one(s2K) again starting this weekend.
How’s the new motor?
:mamoru:
running great. my pops is bringing it up so i can put the inline pro kit on it and have it back to him by spring/summer=)
The conclusion that I have drawn from spending numerous hours behind the wheels of all three is indeed the 350Z and S2000 are much better sports cars. The SRT-10 is far from a refined sports car. It’s a parts bin car with a tuned truck engine. I got into the car with high expectations and was thoroughly disappointed.
I have an s2000 and I daily drive it. I’ve also gone from San Diego to Vegas which is around ~400mi. We had enough clothing for 2 people for 5 days, shoes, laptops, couple bottles of tequila as well as an amp and my spare tire. I remember there was a video on TopGear that showed the S2000 trunk actually fits more than the 350Z trunk.
The road noise sometimes bugs me on the S2000 but overall it’s not that bad. I try and drive with the top down as much as I can anyway. The car does lack torque in the lower RPMs but throwing some 4.56 or 4.77s in there will fix that problem.
There’s a lot of misconceptions about the S2000 that come from one person saying it on S2Ki and then everyone agreeing with it and spreading it on forever and ever. The diff in these cars are not as bad as everyone makes it seem. My car has about 80k on the clock (MY00) and I’ve had 0 problems besides a wheel bearing. My room mates has 150k+ and it’s absolutely fine. The transmission shifts like its brand new and the transmission is so easy for even a shitty driver like me.
I think what the OP wants is to know which one is more raw on a track. The obvious answer is the S2000. The overall handling of the car and how well it responds is great.
